Exploring Five Ideas for a Breaking Bad Sequel

Exploring Five Ideas for a Breaking Bad Sequel

Since Breaking Bad ended a few years ago a lot of fans have been theorizing on just what could possibly take place if a sequel series was to crop up. At this point a lot of folks want to believe that the main characters have earned their peace, and obviously some of them have since a few didn’t make it the final distance. But the ‘what-if’ factor is hard to get away from since it continues to spin and churn out ideas day and night no matter how insane some of them might be or impractical. Eventually better ideas that make a lot more sense might come along and sift through the more ludicrous ones like a thresher through chaff, but until then there are a lot of ideas floating around out there that people would love to entertain simply because it seems like there could possibly be enough material to get a sequel show going.

But time will tell. Here are just some ideas that might need a lot of polishing but could possibly work given what’s left.

5. Jesse goes back into the meth business.

You would think that he’d want to stay as far away from the meth business as possible now since it’s taken so much from him and made him endure much, much more. He had a chance to finally kill Walt and he didn’t take it, meaning that he was fine just making his way out and leaving Walt in the dirt, escaping to his freedom and possible life that awaited on the horizon. But throughout the series no matter how much he wanted out Jesse still had to realize that the money ran out quickly when there wasn’t work to be done. As torturous as it was he needed that money and there’s one thing he knows how to do, and unfortunately it’s something he probably would never want to do again.

4. Walt’s family has to find a way to make ends meet, prompting a crossover with Better Call Saul.

Walt did a number on everyone in his life, and managed to get Hank killed and his wife, son, daughter, and sister-in-law twisted into knots concerning how they were going to take care of themselves. He deceived pretty much everyone that cared about him for a long time, but Skylar at least had an idea of how to do business. As improbable as it seems she is ruthless enough as it’s been seen to get down to business when she needs to and possibly find some way to suck up her pride and make the connections that are needed to procure for her family. It’d be dangerous and unacceptable in her mind no doubt, but it would probably be slightly tempting.

3. Someone manages to perfect Heisenberg’s method and starts the cycle over again using his name.

To think that there’s no one out there as smart as Walt and just as cunning is kind of a fallacy since in this world there’s always someone that’s going to be nipping at your heels trying to perfect something you’ve done or make it better. If there wasn’t another meth dealer or cook out in the universe that Walt occupied it’d be surprising, but thinking about how such an individual could begin the cycle again would be a great idea for a sequel since it would include a lot of intrigue on how the cook got the recipe right, how they reopened distribution and so on and so forth. It wouldn’t be the same story, but it would be a new chapter that might be worth writing.

2. Jesse is found by allies of those killed at Felina and is dragged back into the meth business.

Letting a guy like Jessie, someone that knows how to cook a killer batch of meth, wouldn’t be in the best interests of those that were invested in the kind of business that could turn millions in a very short time. Now whether the group that Walt killed had allies that would lament their loss or not, it seems feasible to think that anyone that wanted the meth to keep being made would find out just where the guy that was helping the cook went to in order to see if he knew enough about what he was doing to recreate the process. As much as Jesse’s earned it, just letting him go doesn’t seem like it would happen to a man that devoted himself early on to the meth business.

1. A brand new drug lord fills the vacuum left by Walt’s death and seeks out both Jesse and Walt’s family.

Once again the idea of someone new coming into the picture and trying to start things going again is enough of a premise to really run with if someone knew how to write it up and get the story rolling. It might seem a little redundant in ways but there are plenty of plot devices that could be used to keep the story fresh and engaging. Unfortunately when Walt involved all those he knew in the business it doesn’t seem like they could just run from it.

There are so many ideas that it’d be kind of silly of the producers to ignore the possibility.
