Everything We Know about Elementary Season 7 So Far

Elementary Season 7

Things have certainly changed in the world Sherlock Holmes since the old days and as it stands with the show Elementary these changes have been ongoing throughout the show’s 7-season run. Sadly though this will be the final season that Elementary will be airing as it was determined a while back that it would run until 2019 and then call it quits. Meaghan Darwish from TV Insider is up on the news as to what’s going to happen in the final season, so far, and how we got to this point. As you might know Holmes made his way back to London following the act of taking the rap for a murder that he didn’t commit, and Holmes followed along. This means that they’re going back to where the actual story began so long ago, but there’s a good indication that they might be making their way back across the pond eventually.

The funny thing about this show is that, according Ian Sandwell of Digital Spy and, well, just about everyone else save for CBS, the show was supposed to be done by the end of the 6th season. The finale had been written out and played out just as it was supposed to and Holmes and Watson were on their way to London to supposedly live out their lives solving crimes and doing what they do best, and that was it. But it would appear that CBS thought that one more season was warranted and thought to go ahead with it despite the fact that things seemed to be sewed up so neat and tidy. That seems par for the course sometimes though as a show that people feel has reached its terminus is allowed to continue even if for just one season while a show that people don’t want to see go is gone within a few seasons and never seen again. It’s odd how the networks seem to claim that they listen to fans and watch the ratings yet make some weird decisions at times. Ah well.

One thing that’s noted by Mike Cecchini from Den of Geek! is that the show has been a good earner for the network so it’s hard to say no to something that could possibly make a few more bucks and give the network another small boost before they have to move onto another show being given the green light and thus being slotted in the same spot where Elementary used to be. Saying no to something that makes money is after all kind of silly and doesn’t happen all that often unless there’s too much risk involved, and with Elementary there’s not that much risk since it’s stayed as a pretty steady show throughout the years and been seen to be one of CBS’s best. I’ll be quite honest and say that I didn’t think much of it when it first came out since the whole idea of Sherlock Holmes and Watson has been done so many times throughout cinematic history that it’s been kind of ruined for some folks. But this show came out as smart, witty, and in some ways even superior to some of the movies that have been released in recent years about the duo. For one it doesn’t overplay itself and it certainly doesn’t try to intellectualize absolutely everything. If there was one thing that the Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law did that was truly annoying it was trying to be funny while being the smartest movie on the screen, as it didn’t work and came off as simply cocky and brash as well as condescending in some cases.

But this show has been something that has the element of surprise when it comes to what you expect versus what you end up getting. For six seasons now it’s been able to entertain as well as capture the attention of the audience in a way that is nothing short of impressive. Johnny Lee Miller has been an entertaining actor for quite some time now and Lucy Liu has been an absolute gem for her acting and her ability to either take the lead or compliment other actors for many years. Together the pair are simply amazing to watch and a lot of fun to see as they go back and forth throughout the episodes, giving their own take on Holmes and Watson that has managed to become something that will likely be remembered when season 7 is over and in the books. It’s likely going to be kind of a sad day when the show is all over and done with, but at the same time it’s easy to be thankful for something like this show since it reminds us that no matter how much we put up with on TV there’s always bound to be something great that’s in the works.
