ESPN has decided to go big with the morning show Get Up! featuring Michelle Beadle and Mike Greenberg. So far it sounds like the show’s main goal is going to be giving people sports news and attempting to stick to the facts as much as possible. But come on, we all know that morning shows are about getting up and just waking up with anything you can think of to get your blood pumping and your creative juices flowing. So they’ll be TRYING to stay on topic, but the chances seem pretty good that they’ll veer off a time or two and really that’s okay. It’s supposed to be a lighter show that isn’t trying to compete with other morning shows but may end doing just that anyway.
Despite their core program there’s always room for something else in discussion in order to keep it moving and extend the dynamic of the show so that those watching can continue to be entertained and discover that the show isn’t so firmly held to its same old routine as to be uninteresting and stale. Morning shows need to be something with pep and a bit of spunk so that people have something to laugh with and be interested in as they start their day. That’s really a big part of how such shows survive and how they attract more viewers. So they might stick to sports to begin with and end on the same note but there’s really no telling just what else they’ll get up to throughout the rest of the show. It could go to education and it could go towards entertainment, there’s no way to tell until it happens since pretty much any subject can come up when talking about sports no matter if it’s intended or not.
New morning shows do tend to come out every now and again and really they’re kind of fun to watch, if only for long enough so that a person can get a sense of what they’re really all about. Some of them are geared towards those that just want the news and others are designed to entertain folks that want a little more for their money. Whichever show a person watches will depend on just what they want out of it and how much they really enjoy the content. So far with this show people are bound to be subjected to just about anything under the sun, but it will still center around sports as much as possible. In fact during one show Beadle was verbally sparring with former UFC champ Ronda Rousey, so that gives you an idea of just what goes on during the show. As far as being entertaining goes the show is something that doesn’t make a lot of promise except to be as open as possible and as accommodating to the people watching as they can be.
That’s about all anyone can really expect to be honest.
