Margaret Brennan, who is CBS News’ senior foreign affairs correspondent will be the next ”Face the Nation” moderator. ”Face the Nation” is CBS’ prestigious public affairs show which airs on Sunday morning. As her new role anchoring one of American politics’ most influential venues, she will be the only woman working as a solo anchor of a major political affairs show airing on Sundays. ”Face the Nation”, just like other political agenda mainstays, features serious interviews with White House officials and prominent lawmakers who often make the news, forging the political agenda ahead. 1. Birth/Parents

Born on March 26,1980 at Stamford, Connecticut, Brennan’s parents are Edward and Jane Brennan. Brennan grew up in Danbury, Connecticut.

2. Education

Brennan graduated in 1988 from the Convent of the Sacred Heart with honors. She received her BA in Foreign Affairs/Middle East Studies, also minoring in Arabic language from University of Virginia, graduating with highest distinction. She also studied abroad at Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan. Furthermore, she received an honorary doctorate for her work in international affairs from Niagara University.

3. Encouragement

It was actually Jane Brennan who encouraged her daughter’s career in television news. Brennan’s mother told her she should try it out because she’s always talking to the TV, saying they’re not giving context on a subject, and that she should try it herself.

4. Journalism History

Brennan’s first job in journalism was actually an internship at CNN in Atlanta. Then, as a CNBC correspondent, it was her job to cover the current financial crisis, focusing on the consumer. She conducted important interviews and broke the news of Circuit City’s liquidation in 2009. Furthermore, she covered consumer trends regularly and their changes. She left CNBC to anchor at Bloomberg Television in 2009. She hosted her last show in 2012 and joined the CBS news team, reporting on the Trump Administration and other such reporting which has taken her around the world.

5. Honors/Awards

Brennan was named one of the top Irish-Americans in business and media by Irish American Magazine. Additionally, she was also named by NewsBios/TJFR Group as one of the top journalists under thirty years of age. Brennan also received the Fulbright Award in 2010 for international understanding.

She has helped to lead coverage on many major stories of an international and diplomatic relation.
