Earth Day is a celebration of this wonderful world that we live upon and everything in it. The necessity of realizing what it is that we have, this wonderful gift of a home to live upon and enjoy with ever passing day, seems to get lost from time to time in the everyday hustle that is life. Taking the time to be thankful and to understand just how precious the world we live upon is tends to be something that many take for granted as it can be hard to see beyond the scope of one’s life and realize that without the world that rests beneath, above, and all around them there wouldn’t be a life to live.
Say thank you once in a while for this world we’ve been gifted, it won’t hurt.

“Our great mother does not take sides, Jake; she protects the balance of life.”
Yes you’re right, this isn’t earth, but it does carry a very poignant message to all inhabitants of this planet since it has to do with how we treat our world and what the consequences could be if we continue to destroy it without thinking. Unlike Eywa however Mother Earth won’t send her various creatures after us, she’ll just react with natural disasters that are far worse than any swarm that mankind has ever seen. That’s why it’s so important to take care of this wonderful planet we live on.
Ferngully: The Last Rainforest
“But how can you live without trees?”
A lot of these movies seem like blind, emotional stabs at industry and the expansion of humanity. In reality however they are carrying a very serious lesson that the world we live on is something of a treasure and the magic that we so blindly eradicate at every turn could possibly wither away unless it’s nurtured and treated with a gentle and calming hand rather than the often destructive need of progress.
The Lorax
“Unless someone like you cares an awful lot, things aren’t going to get better. They’re not.”
There has already been a great deal of damage done to our world in the name of progress and while it’s true that humanity has gained a great deal of knowledge in how to care for and nurture the world that gives us so much, it’s also important to pass those beliefs and practices on to others that will carry on the legacy of caring for the world that gives a great deal and asks only enough to survive.
Blue Planet
“No water, no life. No blue, no green.”
There is so much more to this world than many people realize. It is a mysterious and wondrous place filled with excitement and danger alike that we live on, and it’s worth preserving as much as possible while still seeking a way to live with the natural world we occupy. Without the necessities of life there will be no life, and without life this world will lose that special quality that was granted to it so very long ago.
WALL-E
“I don’t want to survive. I want to live.”
700 years in to the future humanity has forgotten what it’s like to do anything other than to depend upon the machines that at one time were so invaluable. They’ve become little more than slaves to the routine that was laid down by their ancestors, right up until a dedicated little robot opens their eyes in a most unexpected way.
Happy Earth Day to everyone, and remember to give thanks as much as you can for this wonderful place we call home.
