After writer and producer Drew Goddard helped kickstart Netflix’s franchise of Marvel television, he had to leave his series, Daredevil, after mapping out the first season and writing the first two episodes in order to work on Sony’s now-defunct Sinister Six film. He stayed on the series as an executive producer, but many are wondering if the man who really got things going will take part in the future of Netflix’s Marvel experiment.
Luckily, yes. Goddard recently confirmed that he’ll be serving as an executive producer on The Defenders, the upcoming miniseries that will unite Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist under one roof.
“I was there this morning. I’ll be there tomorrow. It’s been fun. Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are both good friends of mine. I enjoy it….I like the show. I like the people. My career is a story of going to hang out with my friends and make cool stuff.”
Goddard is an extremely talented writer that truly understands these characters, and he really is responsible for much of what we all loved about the first season of Daredevil. It’s great finally having him back, and I hope that this leads to even more Marvel work for him in the future.
The Defenders will debut on Netflix in 2017. Are you glad that Drew Goddard is back in the fold? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below!
