So, I just came back from watching a ton of sweaty men playing some sort of sport waiting on half-time. Well, I wasn’t disappointed when they finally announced who the new Doctor Who companion was. And it’s Pearl Mackie people. We finally have a non-white female companion on the show. As we were told earlier, she met Peter recently which sparked the rumors of her being the new companion. It appears that the new companion’s name is Bill. In this sneak peek, Bill and The Doctor are chased by daleks as they do some old fanshioned bantering. Everything we’ve seen so far looks good enough. You can watch it here at Twitter:

Doctor Who will air in 2017 where Bill will be the new companion. It seems that we might be beginning with the Daleks. That’s kinda hit or miss but we’ll see. Whatever happens though, Bill will be a welcome addition to the show nonetheless. It’s good to see the show dealing with issues like diversity. Even though Mackie doesn’t even have a wikipedia page as I write this and only 2 credits under her belt, it’ll be interesting to see what she brings to the show.
