While it may seem obvious, there may not have been a single female in the theater audience watching Gal Gadot as [easyazon_link identifier=”B0714QRG4Z” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Wonder Woman[/easyazon_link] who did not dream of experiencing her world. When the story moved to scenes of Princess Diana growing up on the mysterious island home of the Amazons, Themyscira, young girls and mature women were transfixed. The story of Diana’s origins was presented and her tremendous superhero abilities were displayed as she matured. By the time Wonder Woman entered into battle with her shield, sword and mystical [easyazon_link identifier=”B007XT0DNK” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Lasso of Truth[/easyazon_link], the audience was ready for every exciting action sequence the film had to offer. Everyone was on the “E Ticket” ride.
Would that audience stand in line for a chance to take a ride on the new Golden Lasso Coaster? You bet. Point the way to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and they’ll be there. The roller coaster is scheduled to open in 2018. It’s designed with extra slender steel supports which have the appearance of Diana’s lasso. It will be filled with extreme turns and twists. Riders will fly along the single rail track with loop-de-loops and upside-down turns. The roller coaster will be surrounded with Greco-Greek Architecture, scenes from the Amazonian’s island Themyscira, and an airplane which has crashed.
Rocky Mountain Construction is in charge of the project. The company goal is to construct the very first single-rail design coaster available for public rides. Here’s the company specs for the new coaster:
- The steel track will be 15.5 inches wide.
- There will be eight single-passenger trains carrying riders along the track.
- The course will include a 113-foot climb followed by a 90-degree drop over 100 feet.
- There will be two airtime hills.
- A zero-g roll and one 180-degree stall are planned.
- The course will have multiple overbanked turns and three inversions.
- The coaster’s path will weave through the quarry wall surrounding the theme park.
- The ride will be extremely smooth and much quicker than usual coasters.
- Each car will have only one seat, so riders will have great views from any direction.
- Top speed is expected to be 52 miles per hour!
Construction began in July 2017, and the ride is expected to open in March 2018. Management is mum on the topic of whether Gal Gadot or Wonder Woman movie director Patty Jenkins will take a ride when the coaster opens. Management has planned it to be open in plenty of time for the summer season. What they did say was that the ride has been planned for years, and it will be exciting to have Wonder Woman have her own coaster. After all, [easyazon_link identifier=”B014DEGF3E” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Superman[/easyazon_link] and Batman do. So, it’s about time for Wonder Woman, they said. Another unique detail is that the coaster’s design was created to give riders the feeling that they are riding along the Lasso of Truth.
The Golden Lasso Coaster is not to be confused with the brand-new Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth ride at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in San Francisco/Sacramento, California. This ride is a pendulum style ride which swings riders up to 147 feet in the air, creating a feeling of weightlessness. The ride propels riders up into the air at close to 70 miles per hour. The gigantic pendulum rotates counterclockwise, spinning and swinging simultaneously. It the newest ride for 2017 at this park.
Does the planned Golden Lasso Coaster sound like it will be terrifying? You bet. The open car construction will allow views straight down to the ground… from way up… well, wherever. It’s a ride that sounds worthy of Wonder Woman. Riders will undertake a sensory journey on a series of heroic maneuvers…and that’s an understatement. Thrilling! Tickets, anyone? Soon…
