Rarely do you see “revolutionary” films these days. The reason is because when it comes to “firsts” in cinema, most of that has been taken care of years and years ago. Still though, with today’s technology plenty of “firsts” exist just not on the magnitude of say “the first movie in color” or “the first movie with sound.” Deadpool was a revolutionary film in that it was the first super foul mouthed comic movie to get an R-rating that had incredible box office success. So much so that Logan followed up Deadpool with an R-rating and now comic book movies are censoring themselves considerably less.
But let’s not forget that as much as Deadpool was a great action film, it’s first goal was to make people laugh. In fact I’ll go as far as to say it’s one of the better comedies we’ve seen in the 21st century. Now that Deadpool 2 is on the horizon we’re slowly but surely getting bits and pieces of Deadpool again and it’s been loads of fun. The latest Deadpool “release” is the gag reel from the original film. If there’s anything funnier than Deadpool itself it’s gotta be the bloopers.
