Days of Our Lives fans are living a difficult life. You are so invested in some characters, maybe not so much in others, and things never seem to go your way. The writers of this show know what works and what does not, and they work very hard to make sure they can keep the drama rolling, but it’s not always an easy task. What that means for fans is that sometimes you see new characters come into the show and work some serious magic. Or, you see some new characters come onto the show and fall flat on their faces. That’s why we are going to bring you some of the shortest-lived characters on the show. Did you love them, hate them, or have no time to make a decision because they were gone that fast?
Summer Townsend
Remember her? No? Because she was in Salem for all of 12 seconds, truth be told. She was all kinds of quick to go, and that’s because things didn’t really go anywhere for her. She was here not too long ago, but you might remember her as the woman that Brady began seeing in his dreams following the car accident in which Eric killed Daniel, and Daniel’s heart went to Brady. He was seeing people in his dreams that he didn’t know, and he was sure he was turning into Daniel. That’s when it was revealed she was Daniel’s half-sister, and unknown daughter to Maggie. She didn’t do too badly on the show when she actually showed up with her life, but she didn’t hang around. Perhaps her lineage in Salem was too much for her because she bailed six months into the role. She did have some good ties to the community, but she couldn’t really make it work, and that’s why she did not last in these parts. It’s all right with us though, considering we already forgot about her.

Thanks to Ben, or whatever, she ended up dying quickly after she came to town. We can see how it happened, however. She once dated Brady in some long-ago far away land that didn’t really happen on screen so it didn’t really happen in our lives, but she couldn’t get him out of her mind. And that’s all that she wrote. Actually, she showed up as a journalist looking for some information on a story she was writing, but we all found out she was really in town to see if she could get Brady back into her life. She didn’t succeed with that one, she didn’t get her story, and then a serial killer ended up using her as one of his victims. She was gone before she even made a dent in the story line. She was not someone who had any real ties in Salem, which is almost always a surefire way of making sure that people don’t make it. There’s nothing like being a new girl in a town like this without any real tie to the community that allows people to stick around for any length of time.
Arnold Feniger
This one might be kind of tricky since he is actually Rafe. Well, no, he is not Rafe. This notorious criminal hired by Stefano was portrayed by Galen Gering, who does play Rafe, so it was like a weird twin situation that happened. He wasn’t a twin or a long lost sibling or anything like that. He was given plastic surgery for the sole purpose of looking just like Rafe so that he could commit crimes and make it seem like the beloved police officer was the one doing all the dirty work. At one point, he was kidnapped and replaced by this horrible man, and he did all kinds of bad things to Sami as they were together at that point. He was murdered within months because nothing about this worked for us. He wasn’t someone who added anything to the plot, but he did confuse us, make us question ourselves, and not really add a lot to the situation. No one liked him, he didn’t do well, and the writers got that right away, so he was killed off. And for good reason.
