Days of Our Lives fans aren’t sure they get why Eli is apologizing to JJ like it is going to change things. He slept with his friend’s girlfriend when his friend was going through the most awful time in his life, and he’s devastated because of it. He got JJ’s girlfriend pregnant, and now he’s been lying to him for months. He’s apologizing for no good reason. JJ will never forgive him. It’s one of those situations in which he will never be forgiven, and the only thing he’s managing to do right now is focus on himself.
Eli is apologizing not because he feels bad, but because he wants to have the forgiveness. He’s not going to get it, and there is nothing he can do about it. He’s in a situation that will never work for him. He’s selfishly apologizing. He didn’t feel bad about it before he got caught and all this came out, and the fact that he feels he has a right to manage anything in his life is beyond amazing to all of us.
Now he’s going to wait to see if JJ will forgive him, he’s going to be upset if he doesn’t, and he’s going to wonder what he can to do make this all right. He can’t do anything to make it right, but he’s not focused on that. All he cares about at this point is how he feels about the situation himself right now. He’s not happy about it.
