We are down to 12 Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars, with Pamela Anderson sent home last week from a bottom three that also included Bristol Palin, and, shockingly, Drew Lachey. Will Bristol and Drew be staring down the elimination gun once again, and who will will join them in the bottom three this week? What I want to know is can either of them manage to elevate their technique this week and defy the odds? Let’s get on with the Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars Recap!
Before we get started, let’s look at the scoring from last week one more time. It seems like at this phase of the contest scores don’t matter at all. On last week’s Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars, for instance it was Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy that were in the bottom three score wise, but not in the bottom three of the viewer’s votes. Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya where in the middle score wise, but in the bottom three of the viewer’s votes. So while tracking and comparing scores might be fun, it really indicates nothing. Drew and Bristol could respectively nail perfect 30’s and still wind up in the bottom two because, since this is “All-Stars,” a lot of these competitors have built in fan bases already. On that note, let’s get to the scores.
Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani
Melissa and Tony dance that old Dancing With the Stars favorite, the Jive, and earn typical early season luke-warm votes. How obvious is it that the judges hold their 30’s for later on in the season?
Score: 23.5 … yes, I said .5
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas
Having been in the bottom three last week, Bristol needs to try to mix things up tonight and create some Palin fever. Unfortunately, what she musters is more like a cold. The duo do the quickstep, and Bristol struggles badly with the footwork. Despite giving Palin a very warm review, Len, Bruno, and Carrie condemn her with a lowly 18. Yipes.
Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower
Maybe it’s the dance? Helio and Chelsie do the jive and, bingo. The judges eat it up. They miss matching Melissa and Tony by half a point, pulling off a 23.
Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff
So much for my dance selection theory, Apolo and Karina choose the Quickstep and KILL IT. Len declares it a “Gold Medal”, Bruno calls Apolo’s footwork “Incredible”, and Carrie says something about pants. The duo snare a 24.5 making them the highest scoring couple so far.
Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel
Everybody seems intent on beating the quickstep over Bristol’s head tonight on Dancing With the Stars:All-Stars. Sabrina makes it the most painful yet, comparing her expert quickstep to Palin’s would require removing the word “Star” as well as “Dancing” from the title of the show. Carrie goes as far as to call Sabrina’s work “something I have never seen before in the history of Dancing with the Stars!” They score and EPIC 26.
Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
The dynamic duo take on the jive, and unlike Bristol Kirstie seems very focused on improving her score from last week, and she does. Kirstie has the bonus advantage of being teamed with one of Dancing With the Stars most popular pros here with Maks, and so far he is holding his tongue and not making the judges angry. 21 is the finale score, an improvement for sure.
Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke
The quickstep has been luck for a lot of couples tonight, but not so much for Emmitt and Cheryl. After topping the scoreboard last week, the duo come out middling with a very respectable 22.5. That’s not a bad score, but I was hoping to see SOMEBODY dominate Dancing With the Stars All-Stars, that’s obviously not going to happen early.
Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya
Even though Drew was not a bottom scorer last week, he and Anna are clearly determined to rise above their middle of the road score last week to try to avoid the bottom three of Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars. They choose the Jive and manage a respectable 22.5. That would have had more impact last week, the way the scores are going this week I’m afraid Drew will land in the middle again.
Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson
Joey and Kym choose the quickstep and seem to have hit the glass ceiling of the evening. Seems like 22.5 is going to be the average and you just won’t get better than that tonight without making history (to quote Carrie’s Sabrina praise). Joey and Kym manage to remain average with a 22.5
Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough
Another Olympian and another fan favorite take on The Jive with good results, managing a 24 making them #3 for the night.
Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy
The lovely Ms Monaco rules the quickstep with her partner val, so why does she only get a 22? Carrie seems to suggest it is because Kelly is so tiny. Boo!
Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd
Heavens to Murgatroyds! I can’t understand why the best looking couple on Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars don’t get a perfect 30 just on their despicable level of beauty alone. None the less they manage to pull second of the night with a 25.5!

So there you have it, Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas failed to move the needle and are this week’s lowest scoring couple. Fellow bottom-three member Drew Lachey can’t catch a break and remains in the middle territory. The favorites have been mixed up wildly with Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Austel taking the top spot, and last week’s king Emmitt Smith landing in ‘lower average’ territory.
So prediction time: It looks like Bristol and Drew failed to light any fires tonight and will probably land in the final three on tomorrow’s Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars results show, but who will join them in the bottom three? If I were a betting man, I’d say Joey Fatone. He was popular during his first run for the Mirror Ball, but he never faced talent like this. As far as elimination goes, if Bristol Palin doesn’t go home tomorrow, I’m eating this recap. Raw.
