If there’s one person whose life has completely turned upside down ever since landing the role of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’s Daisy Ridley. While we haven’t heard as much rumblings about John Boyega it seems that Ridley is being attached to nearly every new film project that’s coming out. Her portrayal of Rey has not only earned her the spotlight but it’s about to earn her plenty more paychecks. Her next role? According to Variety
Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to the Sonia Purnell book “A Woman of No Importance” and has attached “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” actress Daisy Ridley to star. “A Woman of No Importance” is the biography of American heiress and super-spy Virginia Hall, who attempted to break into the ranks of the American Foreign Service in the years before World War II. After being rejected because of her gender and a disability – she lost part of her leg in a hunting accident – Hall worked during the war for the British intelligence unit SOE.
You’ll recall me saying that Ridley’s name is attached to tons of projects right? Well, here’s a sampling: She is currently attached to “The Lost Wife,” produced by Robbie Brenner; “Kolma,” produced by J.J. Abrams; and “Ophelia.” Ridley is currently filming the Fox film “Murder on the Orient Express” and has already completed work on the “Peter Rabbit” movie at Sony starring James Corden, as well as “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which bows this December.
While her most anticipated film will be “The Last Jedi,” this is a real chance for the actress to spread her wings and show Hollywood what she’s capable of on screen. Whether or not she can break out of just being a Star Wars star remains to be seen. However, keep in mind this actress is young, has a long way to go, and it looks like she isn’t just picking any film. These are some legit producers and directors she’s working with.
It’ll be strange to see her be anything but Rey, however we’re looking forward to it.
