Creed 2: A Thrilling Homage to Rocky IV with a Vicious Climax

Creed 2: A Thrilling Homage to Rocky IV with a Vicious Climax

As a die-hard fan of the Rocky series, I can’t help but reminisce about the intensity of Rocky IV and the iconic face-off between Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren. With Creed 2 on the horizon, I can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu. Although there isn’t as significant a size discrepancy between the fighters as in the fourth installment, Florian Munteanu, who plays Drago’s son, is still an imposing figure. Creed 2 promises to be a hard-hitting tribute to its predecessor, with a blend of familiar elements and fresh twists that will captivate fans of all generations.

One thing’s for sure: the final fight in Creed 2 will be nothing short of brutal.

10. Tension will be palpable throughout the film.

Michael B. Jordan’s character, Adonis, is a walking embodiment of tension. Even after being crowned the champ, which is already hinted at in the plot, he’ll likely carry that weight with him as part of Apollo’s legacy. The question remains whether he’ll follow in Apollo’s egotistical footsteps or take after Rocky and become a true champion.

9. Adonis’ stepmother and girlfriend will plead with him not to fight.

This is a recurring theme in the Rocky series. Remember how Adrian and Rocky didn’t think Apollo needed to fight a guy in his prime? Apollo had already proven his greatness to the world. Adonis’ stepmother and girlfriend care deeply for him and don’t want to see him get hurt. If Ivan’s training of his son is anything like what we’ve seen before, he’ll be just as ruthless as his father.

8. Rocky and Ivan won’t be friends, but there will be some mutual respect.

There’s a certain level of respect that comes from knowing someone can beat you down. It doesn’t necessarily lead to friendship, like with Apollo and Rocky, but it could result in a grudging admiration that allows Ivan to bury any hatred he has for Rocky. However, as we’ve seen with Daniel and Johnny in Cobra Kai, there’s always a surprise waiting in the writer’s bag of tricks.

7. All respect aside, there won’t be any reason for Adonis to welcome the appearance of the man who killed his father.

Considering Adonis didn’t really know his father and didn’t spend any real time around him, it’s easy to think that the emotional impact of meeting Drago won’t be as strong. But there’s also the idea that this is the man who killed the father he never got to know.

6. This fight will be (somehow) more vicious than the last one.

Remember Rocky IV? Rocky was knocked down so many times he looked like one of those blow-up toys that just keeps coming back. But eventually, he chopped Drago down. This fight, however, could be even more vicious since Drago’s son and Adonis seem to be closer in size.

5. Ivan’s son will be more of a monster than he was considered to be back in the day.

Back in the 80s, these men were considered just a step below Superman in terms of toughness. That might be an exaggeration, but the number of punches and the strength behind them would force veteran MMA fighters to crumble. The thought of Ivan’s son being even more of an animal in the ring than his father is genuinely terrifying.

4. Adonis will get pummeled, but be victorious.

Adonis has a couple of things going for him: the natural skill of his father and training under a man who knows how boxing works. Thanks to that natural skill and experience, he won’t be killed, and he probably won’t lose in this bout. But he will take a beating.

3. This will be the culmination of the Rocky saga.

As a fan, I hope this will be the final chapter in the long-running Rocky saga. It’s a fantastic story, but it’s time to wrap it up and let another legend be born. Adonis might be able to carry his own legacy if the writers can give him a credible plot.

2. The movie’s main draw will be the return of Ivan Drago.

That’s right. It won’t be Rocky, Adonis, or Ivan’s son. It will be the big man himself, Dolph Lundgren, who will draw the crowd. Everyone wants to see him return to the big screen, even if he won’t be fighting. Over the years, he has become one of the most beloved antagonists.

1. Rocky will have a tough choice to make.

Will Rocky want to see Adonis get beaten like he used to, or will he let the kid decide on his own what he wants? Chances are, Adonis will do what he wants anyway, but it’s also more likely that Rocky will be in his corner no matter what. The real question is whether he’ll throw in the towel this time if he has to.

Creed 2 is set to be an intense and thrilling movie when it hits theaters.
