Chang aka Kevin was front in center in the episode as Abed decided to make a documentary on Kevin and the new disease called Changesia in order to score a $40,000 grant from the MacGuffin Neurological Institute to research the new disease aka buy Abed better video equipment.
While the rest of the study group was gung-ho in helping Kevin, Jeff was adamant about catching Chang in his lie. Jeff used the group’s high gullibility factor to help them get the evidence he needed to trap Chang in his lie.
Jeff ended up finding his smoking gun he needed. But turns out Kevin was just calling a number he found in the ventilation. With all the commotion that Jeff caused during the pitch to the MacGuffin Institute, they ended up giving the school the grant money and Jeff’s efforts made him the new school pariah and Kevin the hero at Greendale.
In the end Chang and the group ended up forgiving Jeff for what he did.
However, the end credits revealed that Winger was right. There is no Kevin. There is no Changnesia. Chang was plotting something with someone and when he finally got Jeff to believe, the next step in the plan of the person that Chang was talking to on the phone was ready to go.
With the season halfway through, I thought they would’ve wrapped up this whole Changnesia plot or at least sprinkle some breadcrumbs about it every episode. This episode has been consistent with the other five that have aired. A Dan Harmon-less Community was a terrible one. Is it too late to bring him back?

Honestly, I really wish they hadn’t let Harmon go, but to be honest, I get a little tired of people always comparing the show to the Harmon years. It’s never going to be as good as when Harmon was around, and yes, the new showrunners are relying heavily on stuff established in previous seasons, but I think for the most part, most of the peisodes this season have worked.
