Ever wondered how superheroes would really talk to each other if they were around in real life? Even more so now with superhero movies coming out every chance they get, they’re becoming even more relatable and “human” in a sense. Movies and shows today focus on how regular and average superhero lives can be when they’re not wearing their masks, but they still have superhero quirks that’ll just never leave. For example, Tony Stark is still a genius pompous billionaire with or without his suit. Steve Rogers is still the self-righteous all-American kid with or without his shield. Doctor Strange is still strange either way. So on and so forth.
Someone happened to pick up on that thought and decided to put to paper (or screen in this case) the many ways that superheroes might talk to each other on a day-to-day basis. The result is the website textsfromsuperheroes.com. The website is basically what its name implies. It’s a website that posts texts from superheroes, but we’ll have to tell you just in case you like to believe things–the texts are made up. The website is run by a couple of people who think they’re funny enough to refer to themselves as comedians. Stand up comedian Andrew Ivimey and Internet comedian Diana McCallum are part of a larger network of funny people known as The From Superheroes Network. They’re actually funny, but they’re even smarter for coming up with a creative way to capitalize on the superhero industry. Way to go!
Ivimey and McCallum create these text messages between superheroes, and they’re funny in their own way. You might see a conversation between two superheroes or you might see a group conversation instead. They might talk about something completely superhero related or they might just be talking about movie night. The end result might be a chuckle or two, but occasionally you might get a good laugh from the texts. Some texts are funnier than others, while some other texts seem so possible that they become completely and ridiculously hilarious. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that superheroes aren’t real–at least not the ones with web shooters or the ones that go green.
Even if you don’t like superheroes, you’ll still appreciate this gallery of superhero texts. They’re quite witty if they aren’t anything at all. If you do like superheroes, then you’ll truly appreciate the work that Ivimey and McCallum have done to humanize these characters even further. We’ve already dedicated an entire decade to superheroes, and that length of time is only getting even longer. One day this superhero frenzy will die down and we’ll see just how much of our time we used on making superheroes appear much more real than they actually are. Maybe at that point the joke will be on us, but for now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sitting down and spending a good part of your morning just scrolling through all these texts. Go head and spy on the secret lives of your superheroes. You know you want to.
