Dianna Rigg, aka Olenna Tyrell, has recently bowed out of the famed TV show as her part has come to a close. But during her time on GoT she was absolute gold. As Olenna Tyrell she was a no-nonsense matriarch that did not suffer fools gladly and allowed her mind to be known on many things while others she kept close to the vest. There was never much chance to know just what Lady Olenna was really thinking unless she decided to reveal it on her own, and if she did then it was time to hunker down and wait for the verbal tongue-lashing to commence.
Back in the day though she was known for more than just her wit and scathing rebukes. As a former Avenger’s star and Bond girl she was sought after quite a bit when it came to Hollywood.
As Emma Peel she was just as beautiful as she was dangerous. Back in those days men were often taken aback by her looks only to realize that they hid a sharp mind and a dangerous level of martial ability.
Though her physical attributes are not what they used to be, her presence was more than enough on the show to give her the air of someone that was to be obeyed and listened to.
It’s horrible to admit it but she would likely be shamed for her appearance in this date. Back then, and even now, she was without a doubt one of the most gorgeous women to take the role of Emma Peel.
She was also a Bond girl at one point, as she played opposite of George Lazenby. He might have been considered one of the worst Bond versions ever, but she was far and away one of the more attractive Bond girls.
From her martial skills to her weapons mastery Rigg was one of the most well-respected actresses of her time.
Emma Peel was an expert at nearly everything she did, including fencing and martial arts.
She was also known for her provocative look as well, which was still acceptable back then but was also considered quite scandalous.
There’s something about a woman astride a horse that seems to be alluring. I can see it, but at the same time it looks more dignified than sexy.
Rigg had, and still has, a sense of style that can’t be denied.
As Emma Peel she took on a great number of dangerous situations. But of course she got out of all them somehow. I mean of course, it’s Emma Peel after all.
One of the most impressive aspects of her role in Game of Thrones is that the woman playing her granddaughter, Natalie Dormer, looks almost just like Rigg when she was younger. The casting department was on the ball this time.
Rigg had such elegance in her youth and such poise that it’s no wonder why she’s become one of the greatest and most respected characters on Game of Thrones. It would obviously take a family like the Lannisters to believe that she’s anything but a meddling old woman.
