We were ecstatic to hear that one of our favorite late 90s — early 2000s TV show, Charmed, is finally getting a reboot, and we were even more excited to learn that the storyline will actually be starkly different from the original. In the reboot, we’ll see the three charmed sisters as young women in college. It’ll be a refreshing new take from Jane the Virgin’s creator Jennie Urman, and we already know what she can do with a show. There are plenty of things to look forward to, but here are 10 of our humble predictions for the upcoming Charmed reboot.
Mel will steal the show
Melonie Diaz is fiery on screen no matter what role she portrays. We immediately think that she’s going to steal the reboot and shine as the middle sister. She has powers of freezing time just like in the original, but we think she’ll be a little bit more deliberate with it than Piper ever was.
More brains
Given that the girls are in college, we think there’s going to be a lot more intelligent conversations in this reboot. Macy is a brilliant geneticist. Mel is a graduate student of women’s studies. Maggie might be a freshman, but she’s got a lot of leadership potential. Again, more brains this time around.
Some Latin spice
Since the sisters are of Latin descent, we’re expecting some cultural influences as well. It’ll be interesting to see how the writers would tie it in with the story, but there’s a reason why they made this cultural choice. Whatever it may be, we’re pretty sure it’ll add more spice and attitude to the entire affair–no sweetness here.
Hilltowne charm
The move from San Francisco to Hilltowne has to have some kind of significance as well, and we think that there will be a play on small-town charm a la Gilmore Girls that will be beneficial to portraying the sisters appropriately. Hilltowne could also be a Salem of some sorts, a small town that might go berserk at the realization that witches live amongst them.
Death of a love interest
Off the bat, each sister has a love interest already. Macy has Galvin; Mel has Nico, and Maggie has Vera. We predict that at least one of these will either end up dead by the first season finale or end up being a bad character at some point in the season, spying on the sisters while they’re unaware.
The Whitelighter
The Whitelighter Harry Greenwood ends up falling in love with Piper in the original series. We predict that the same will happen this time around, possibly with the eldest Macy given that Mel is a lesbian. Either that, or Mel might end up being bisexual all along and finds this out by falling in love with the Whitelighter.
More powers
The sisters from the original show had their powers and that was it. There’s no reason why the sisters in the reboot can’t have more powers than their original. If they’re going to fight the worst evil this time around, it’ll be cool to see them with power addendums.

Hilltowne University
There has to be some significance regarding Hilltowne University. We’re reminded of Buffy the Vampire Slayer somehow. But we think that the girls might find an ally there, or someone who just has extensive or practical knowledge on the power of three. It makes sense if the sisters are going to be spending a lot of screen time on campus.
Vera patriarch
Although there’s no introduction of a father figure in the pilot, we predict that he’ll come out at some point. We see that the sisters lose their mom while they’re in college, and the storyline is a little different than the original. But we expect that the father figure in this series, whenever he appears, will have a more significant role than the character did in the original series.
More fun
With what we know so far, it seems like this reboot is going to be a lot of fun–maybe more than the original. We all knew the dynamic behind the scenes of the original series, and it seems that it’ll be different with the reboot. We’ll see more as the show unfolds, but it’s already starting to sound more fun than anything.
