The Stranger Things family grows bigger and bigger each year, and next season, we’ll be seeing the likes of Cary Elwes and Jake Busey join the already great cast. Elwes is known for his classic role as Wesley in The Princess Bride, while Busey is famous for his role as Ace Levy in Starship Troopers.
Elwes will be portraying a new character known as Mayor Kline. According to Netflix, the Kline character will be highly unlikeable, like that politician that nobody really cares about. Mayor Kline is the type of person who looks out only for himself, even though he’s supposed to be watching over an entire town. We can immediately picture Elwes in his suit, flashing his white smile, while stabbing everyone in the back. He’s going to be trouble for sure, and we’re more than excited to see it play out.
Busey’s character Bruce, on the other hand, will be a journalist for The Hawkins Post. Netflix describes this character as someone with questionable morals, something that we’ve seen Busey do so many times in past. He’s great at playing roles like that–actually there’s way too many to mention. These actors will both be interesting additions to the next season.
There are other changes to the next season of Stranger Things that have already been announced. Another addition to the cast is Maya Hawke. Hawke is the daughter of famous actors Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. She actually picked up a new lead character, an unnamed alternative girl who discovers something weird in Hawkins one day out of her boredom. In addition, Priah Ferguson’s credit has been upped from a guest role to a recurring role. Ferguson’s character, Erica, was a scene-stealer in season 2. We can only expect that her character will play a more important role in season 3.
Most of the stars that we’ve grown to love in the last two seasons will be back for season 3. We’re expecting to see Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp again among others.
The announcement was made during Netflix’s recent event in Rome, “See What’s Next.” The media giant seems to be rolling out hits after hits, not only in the U.S. but in Europe as well. But Stranger Things has remained to be one of its best shows ever. The success of the show is still a mystery even to the show’s creators, despite the obvious facts that it’s a great show with great characters, themes, plot lines, and storytelling. Stranger Things is brought to us by executive producers Shawn Levy, Iain Patterson, Dan Cohen, and the Duffer Brothers. There’s no release date for Stranger Things season 3 just yet, but we already can’t wait. The truth is we started waiting as soon as we finished binge-watching season 2. We’ll be staying tuned for more news on the next season, but for now, we’ll be trying to figure out how Mayor Kline and Bruce will fit into it all.
