Rage Against The Machine is a well-known rock group but when you add in Owen Wilson saying ‘wow’ it actually makes sense. In some case his repetition of that word kind of sounds like a cat winding up for a really spectacular howl or yell, but in others it’s almost a whispered utterance that conveys some real feeling. He’s a good actor and a great comedian but you kind of have to wonder if he knows just how often he says the word ‘wow’. Seriously, he uses it a lot.
These mashups are usually a lot of fun and this one is no exception since they take things you would never think about putting together, ever, and find out how they could work. In this case the wah-wah, wah-wah portion of the song Bulls On Parade is substituted by Owen Wilson constant repetition of the word ‘wow’ and in some cases it almost sounds the same. You know when he says it that the word is commonly used as an utterance for an emotional moment to follow no matter if it’s a happy emotion, a revelation of some sort, or a negative emotion that isn’t meant to be positive.
Owen Wilson is really the kind of actor that’s hard to take seriously and it’s not just his acting but also the way he looks. He really looks as though he was built for comedy, meaning that he has kind of a goofy face and the customary grin that denotes someone that has a good sense of humor but doesn’t need to flaunt it all the time. He’s been in dramatic movies before and been just as good, but in comedies it seems so effortless for him when he acts. Besides that, he and Vince Vaughn manage to play off of one another’s gags so easily that you can’t help but laugh at their antics as they do whatever it takes to make the movie work.
His ability to be serious and funny at the same time in a film is simply awesome. He can make a person cry or he can make them laugh until their jaw hurts. In many ways he is a complete actor since his talents are just diverse enough to be used in more than one way. He is kind of underrated sometimes since he doesn’t end up getting parts that might allow him to stretch out his skill a little more, but what he does manage to do is great enough most of the time that you aren’t likely to forget him.
In fact I think I’ve seen Owen Wilson in only a couple of movies that didn’t seem to allow him the kind of freedom he usually has and even those weren’t too bad. In many ways he seems to be an actor that can roll with whatever is given to him and keep on moving forward. He’s a funny guy and a good actor, and this mashup is kind of just a goof on how much he says the word ‘wow’ in his movies.
It’s a lot.
