Bridgerton returned to our screens yesterday with the eagerly-awaited second half of the third season, leaving fans both delighted and frustrated. While the latest episodes have received positive reactions, Netflix’s announcement of a two-year wait for Bridgerton Season 4 has left viewers outraged.
The first half of Bridgerton Season 3 had left viewers on a cliffhanger with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) finally proclaiming their love for each other. The newly loved-up pair shared a passionate moment in the back of a carriage, culminating in Colin’s marriage proposal. Therefore, fans were eagerly waiting for the second half to see how the couple will break the news to their often meddlesome families.
Bridgerton Season 3 Conclusion and Season 4 Announcement
The second half of season three has concluded with as much excitement as it began, delivering the drama and bombshells viewers have come to expect. However, the excitement has been overshadowed by Netflix’s announcement that the fourth season will not be released until 2026, and reportedly, will begin filming in June.
Jessica Brownell, the show’s showrunner, explained to the Hollywood Reporter:
“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language. The writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range.”
The Announcement of a Delayed Season 4 Led to Fans’ Outrage on Social Media
Cant wait that long😔

Fans have taken to social media to express their frustration over the lengthy wait. One fan commented, “Literally no excuses at all for them to take so long between seasons just to film 8 episodes. A new season of Grey’s Anatomy comes out like every Fall of every year and there’s like almost triple the episodes.”
Another fan echoed the sentiment:
“TWO YEARS EVERY SEASON IS SO BAD. LIKE WTF. IT’S GOING TO BE 10 YEARS UNTIL WE REACH HYACINTH’S STORY?????!?!?!??!”
Many fans compared the production timeline of Bridgerton to other popular series. “Sorry but 2 years for what? It’s based on books so the storyline is already there and it isn’t the same as something like Stranger Things that’s heavily reliant on special effects and CGI which takes a lot of time to create and edit. It’s like studios don’t want to get up and work!” one fan remarked.
Another frustrated viewer added:
“Why does it take this show so long between seasons? Bigger shows turn s**t around in a year! Get it together Netflix!”
The Expectations for Bridgerton Season 4 Are Consequently Even Higher
Despite the excitement of the current release, the two-year wait for the next season has left fans feeling disappointed and impatient. As the series continues to captivate audiences, the lengthy production process remains a point of contention. Bridgerton viewers will have to exercise patience as they await the fourth season, hoping that the upcoming episodes will be worth the extended wait.
