Leonard is forced to wear an itchy sweater due to not returning a video under Sheldon’s name 7 years prior. After trying to return the video to the store, which doesn’t exist because video stores are no longer a thing. Leonard tries everything but cannot appease the wrath that is Sheldon. He does not scream, he does not whine like Sheldon often does. He is calm and keeps making suggestions so he can make it right. It’s creepy when he’s not freaking out.
This sweater isn’t just a normal itchy sweater. This thing turns Leonard chest redder than a cherry. It looks horrible and painful because it’s apparently it was made out of everything that causes hives. When he finally gets to take it off, we learn that Sheldon had known about the movie for years and that he was just saving it up to teach Leonard a lesson. A horrible, itchy, anaphylactic lesson.
Elsewhere, Penny runs into Raj’s ex-girlfriend, Lucy. I would say the one that was weird, but she was Raj’s only ex so no explanation is needed. Penny gives her the 3rd degree and it was nice to see someone have his back. A bit later he gets a text to join Lucy for coffee but there she tells him she is seeing someone and it breaks his little heart.
Howard, who I’ve decided is no longer funny but just plain mean, had tried to give him advice but Raj just doesn’t have the right moves yet. It’s been less than a year since he’s even been able to talk to a girl! Which, may I say, I’m glad that little flaw is over. It was cute and endearing for a while, but highly unpractical.
This episode showed us a side of Raj we have seen before, the sad and desperate guy. Even Sheldon has a girlfriend (kinda). I really hope that we will see him get a girl before the show is over. Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t want everyone happy every single episode. That’s boring. But I really do hope they stop being so cruel at the expense of Raj. He’s a good guy and a building block that makes the show. Leonard used to be the underdog when it came to women, and while who knows if he and Penny will last forever, I hope to see the trials of Raj as he makes more uncomfortable moves on the ladies.
