The Five Best Noomi Rapace Movies of Her Career

Noomi Rapace

Noomi Rapace is someone that you may or may not be interested in depending on what you think of her movies and the manner in which they’re filmed. She’s been prominent in show business in a big way throughout the years as she’s taken on roles that have elevated her in a way in the public eye that speaks of being edgy and fully capable of taking risks that others might not think to bother with, but also because she’s managed to show that she is worth the interest that people give her. Some of her movies aren’t in English and need subtitles but again for some people this is kind of enjoyable since they happen to like seeing movies in their original language no matter that half of their attention is going to be given to the script at the bottom. That being what it is though Noomi has still found a big audience that is more than willing to follow her.

Here are her five best movies.

5. Prometheus

Prometheus was supposed to be the answer that every fan of the Aliens franchise wanted since it was designed, supposedly, to show just where the xenomorphs came from and how they had originated. The movie did that in part, but a lot of fans were still disappointed since the answer seemed so muddied and wasn’t really given a lot of solid and convincing back story. In a big way it almost seems like the xenomorphs started out as a scientific experiment to engineer a virus that had gone wrong, but it also seems like there’s more to it than that since their evolution was something that took a while to develop.

4. Rupture

What is it that makes a person afraid of something, and how powerful can that fear response be? This seems to be one of the things in this movie that is being discussed since the whole idea of the project that Renee has been abducted for is to figure out how to make humanity evolve, and fear seems to be the key ingredient. The rupture that is being sought however is rather grotesque when one thinks about it, though it’s also a step along the evolutionary ladder since the idea that mastering one’s fears can cause some form of evolution is something that, amazingly, has rarely been discussed in movies.

3. What Happened to Monday

Bryan Bishop from The Verge is correct in assuming that identical siblings is something that’s been done in the past, but this movie is a bit different from Orphan Black since the sisters are not clones, but actual identical siblings that are kept safe by their grandfather and allowed to go out on the day that bears their name in order to keep them safe. When one of them, Monday, decides to betray her sisters however they begin to strike back at the law enforcement agency that has been tasked with keeping the rule of ‘one child to one family’ in place for so long, and end up coming for their wayward sister eventually.

2. The Drop

A.A. Dowd from the AV Club is right in saying that this movie benefited from a great cast since Marv and Bob could have been played by anyone but it wouldn’t have been the same without Hardy and Gandolfini. Noomi seems like kind of a clinger in this movie but she does play her part very well since she does manage to bring a level of interest to it that might otherwise have been missing. The whole idea of no one ever suspecting Bob for anything however was a nice little twist to the movie that made it a little more easy to watch since it’s not too hard to simply gloss over Hardy’s part at the beginning.

1. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

One big draw for this movie was having a female protagonist that was the driving force behind it all and the one that had to step up and be the most important character in the story. It’s not the first time that such a thing has happened obviously but people are becoming quite used to the idea that women can drive the story and have been for a while since there’s enough interest to make it work on numerous occasions. In this movie however the protagonist kind of had to be someone you wouldn’t want to mess with and at the same time someone that had a rather tragic life in some regards just so she wasn’t perfect but she wasn’t wrecked beyond all imagining. Believe it or not this is one of the more balanced characters in cinema despite the various issues in her life that have been revealed.

Noomi has shown a lot of people what she can do over the years and it’ll be great to see what else she might do in the years to come.
