The Five Best Jake Johnson Movies of His Career

Jake Johnson

Jake Johnson is one of those individuals that’s fun to watch since he has a great sense of humor and he translates well to the screen. A lot of his characters are wise-cracking best friends in one form or another and it works more often than not since he’s not much of an action star but he’s not a full-on comedian either, at least not when he’s on screen. The truth is that he seems more like a guy that can do a little bit of just about everything while excelling in a couple of areas, which oddly enough makes him seem like a very balanced character. Some of his movies haven’t really been all that great but it’s hard to blame any one person for this since there’s a good amount of material that might have gone into said movie that might not have been appealing to the audience. Overall his performance is usually top notch.

Here are the five best movies from his career.

5. The Mummy

So honestly this movie didn’t really come off as a big winner since mummy movies tend to flop unless they have some quality to them that’s new, capable of capturing the audience’s attention, and don’t get too off the wall goofy. This had some potential since Jake’s character wasn’t a bad guy but he wasn’t a paragon of virtue either like his friend, who was played by Tom Cruise, but there were some issues. The biggest one for me honestly was trying to inject the Jekyll and Hyde character into the story with the thought that it would work without question. Plus the idea of the female mummy wasn’t horrible, but some people seemed to dislike it just a bit.

4. Jurassic World

So the first Jurassic Park was a failure before it ever got off the ground and managed to see a few people get killed. What’s the harm in creating the actual park and risking the lives of hundreds of people, right? And on top of that it might be a great idea to create another new species that has the ability to think for itself, evade capture, and basically just kill everything in sight since its seeing everything for the first time. Yeah, you might get the idea that creating dinosaurs is cool and revolutionary, but believe it or not there was a reason they went extinct and weren’t given the means to survive, reasons that humans believe they can change when it comes to fiction.

3. Let’s Be Cops

Only in the movies could a person get away with this and not get arrested, especially in the current era since as you might guess being a cop isn’t the easiest thing in the world when you’ve got an entire group of individuals that seem to think berating the men and women in blue is the in thing to do. When two friends decide to take the idea of a Halloween costume to a new limit though they find themselves invested in it so deeply that they actually end up taking on the persona for a while and finding that it’s not quite as easy as they might have thought. In the end though things do work out, somehow.

2. Tag

Imagine playing the same game for decades and never being able to tag that one friend because he’s just that good. It might sound silly and a bit ridiculous but this group of friends made what was a real story into a movie that’s absolutely hilarious and in doing so showed that friendship is one of the most important things in life. Of course traveling across the country to try and tag your friend during a specific month out of the year does sound a little insane and it might be considered equally nuts to come up with such elaborate hoaxes in order to get to that person, but for this group of friends nothing is too crazy when it comes to finally tagging the one person that’s never been caught.

1. Win It All

Eddie isn’t really a born loser, he just sucks at gambling, which unfortunately is his chosen habit and the one thing that he can’t stay away from. When a local tough asks him to hold a bag for him without looking in it, Eddie of course can’t resist after a while and finds that there’s a great deal of money inside. Now a rational person might think it’s not theirs, it’s stolen, they’re doing something illegal just holding onto it, but Eddie of course isn’t the rational type and begins to gamble. Unfortunately that means he eventually goes in the hole big time and has to score a major lucky streak that ends up paying the money back and allowing Eddie to finally live a comfortable and relaxing life.

He’s great at what he does, period.
