This is a great quote that many film school students already know but in case you’ve never read it, does a great job encapsulating the importance of sound: “Great sound can always bump up the quality of an ‘iffy’ image, Great images can NEVER fix terrible sound design.” This is completely true. I’ve gone on record numerous times on this site about the importance of sound and how a great soundtrack or score can make a movie 100 times better than it might actually be.
Often times music can improve a movie but if the sound is off or the music sucks, you have virtually zero chance at success. It’s hard to illustrate the importance of sound as a layman and as an “average” movie watcher. However, I came across this video that truly captures just how important an element sound really is.
