Following the recent sexual harassment allegations against actor Jeffrey Tambor, his ‘Arrested Development’ co-stars have decided to stand behind him. David Cross, who plays Tobias Funke in the Netflix series, has said that he has decided to back his co-star. Although he could not speak on behalf of the whole cast, he said that there were others who felt the same. While he admitted that the information they had about the situation was limited, he felt they knew enough to make an informed decision.
Fans are currently awaiting the return of the series to Netflix for a fifth season. Filming for this season was completed in November 2017, four years after the end of season four. It has been a long wait for fans of the Bluth family and they are excited to see the latest developments.
In the midst of this wait, a series of allegations were made against Tambor, who plays patriarch George Bluth Sr. The first accusation of on-set misconduct was made by his assistant Van Barnes. A second allegation was then made by actress Trace Lysette followed by a third from Tamara Delbridge, a makeup artist. As a result of these allegations, Tambor has already been fired from his role in ‘Transparent’, and Amazon series, earlier in February 2018. In response to the claims, Tambor has apologized if any of his behavior has been misconstrued or has caused offense, but denies that he has acted deliberately inappropriately with any woman and that he is not a predator.
Amazon came to this decision following an internal inquiry into the situation. David Cross has said that he finds it very curious that Amazon is not willing to reveal their findings from the investigation. He feels disappointed by the manner in which Amazon has conducted their investigation and described it as biased and flawed.
Cross was also asked if he believed that Amazon’s decision would have an impact on Netflix’s response to the situation and would affect Tambor’s role in ‘Arrested Development’. Cross reply to this suggested that he personally hoped that it would not but the decision wasn’t for him to make. Therefore, he is not in a position to say whether or not Netflix will also decide to fire Jeffrey Tambor.
So far, Netflix has remained silent about the situation and has declined to comment when asked. However, the allegations did not impact on the filming schedule, so it should be ready for release soon. Netflix has not given an official release date for season 5 of ‘Arrested Development’ but Cross has hinted that it will be aired around springtime. He was unable to offer a more specific date.
So, what can fans expect when it does finally make its return? Well, the focus will remain on the dysfunctional Bluth family and fans can expect to learn a little more about the backstory of Tobias. Cross offered a little teaser by saying that fans will probably meet members of Tobias’ extended family that have not been a part of the series before.
