Ariel Winter Continues to Push Fashion Boundaries at Smurfs Premiere

Ariel Winter is no stranger to controversy when it comes to her Instagram account.  The 19-year-old actress has been posting revealing photos of herself for a number of years now.  For the most part these images have been said to be a response against body shaming.  Winter’s revealed on a number of occasions that she’s embraced her body and doesn’t care at all what the critics say.  She’s been empowering to women around the country who feel ashamed at their bodies.

However, I need to step in here and ask this question:  at what point is this about attention and are you just using this “body image” as an excuse to be posting revealing photos that draw the attention of tons of adoring male fans?

I ask this question because Winter attended the premiere of Smurfs: The Lost Village yesterday in Los Angeles and surprise surprise, everyone is talking about the outfit she wore.  Winter’s outfit showed off her curves and the sheer paneling certainly caught the eye of other people attending the premiere of Smurfs: The Lost Village. She also happily posed with some of her young fans.  Remember, this is a kids movie.

Again, what exactly is Winter doing here?  It seems that at least once every few weeks a revealing photo of her goes up.  Earlier this month her fans claimed she’d posed for her most sultry photo ever as the Modern Family star posed in a cigar bar in a sheer top, thigh-high boots and fishnets tights.  She captioned the image: “When in Beijing at a cigar bar …”

When in Beijing at a cigar bar…

As a male fan of Ariel Winter, sure these images are entertaining but as far as her being a role model for body confidence I think that Winter crosses the line considerably.  Remember folks, she’s 19 and has made it abundantly clear that she uses social media in a manner similar to the Kardashians.  This kid knows exactly what she’s doing and I personally think she used the body image thing as an excuse to post racy photos of herself.  Again, that’s her right but come on folks, let’s see this for what it really is.
