Few actors, either those that are live action or voice actors, can possibly boast the list of credits that Monica Rial can. Her filmography goes on and on until you can honestly believe that it would qualify as it’s own novel if you simply went into a little description about each entry. She’s done so much in the past nineteen years that to fully understand all of it you would have to sit down with the woman for a nice long interview and ask her what it was like for each and every role. You can just imagine how exhausting that would be for her and for the interviewer since the laundry list of roles she’s taken on are enough to make many people take note and widen their eyes in amazement.
She hasn’t stopped working since 1999.
Just take a look at her list of credits and you’ll see that she’s been working steady for almost twenty years now. Even some of the most devoted and best voice actors would take at least enough time off to really give themselves a rest, but Monica is absolutely dedicated and doesn’t seem to turn down a role when she can get it. She’s been known to complete several roles within a year. As you know however actors have to keep acting or they don’t get paid. This seems even more true for voice actors, who aren’t as well-known most times and seem to get looked over quite often unless they’re just that good. When you think about your favorite animated characters and shows how often do you think about the people that do the voices? Some might, and some don’t, which means that when it comes to fame, voice actors are known most often for their overwhelming number of contributions rather than just one or two times when they added their voice to a story.
A lot of the times it seems as though she just uses a variant of her same voice.
This is something you might be able to notice with other voice actors as well if you really pay attention when they’re going through their roles. Frank Welker is one of those that will do this as well, though as it is with most of them their voices will be used in very different circumstances and thereby any familiar voices won’t be as noticed since they’re not in the same production. Monica’s voice however is very versatile which is one reason she can do this and have people eating out of the palm of her hand so to speak when they watch the productions that she’s a part of. Being able to use your own voice and modulated it just enough to be convincing when playing different characters is a definite skill that many voice actors either have or try to develop in order to give themselves an easy out when they need it.
She’s a big lover of anime.
Everyone’s got their chosen field. Some bounce all over the place and can do whatever they’re called upon to do, while others pick a niche and tend to stick with it. Anime became a rather popular trend a while back and people in America locked on it when it first came in and didn’t let go. The market for anime has expanded in a big way since the first comics started making their way over and people went nuts for it after a while. It is definitely an acquired taste since it’s not for everyone it would seem but there are legions of fans that absolutely love anime meaning that it’s not bound to go anywhere anytime soon. Monica got into anime in 1999 and never looked back as she’s been voicing different roles for it ever since. She’s voiced TV, movies, video games, and anything she’s been asked to do, keeping herself constantly busy and continuing to build her career as she’s still voice acting to this day.
Throughout her time in anime she has become a scriptwriter as well as a director, still for anime, and has moved up the ranks with each passing year to gain more notoriety and fame as her reputation continues to precede her. You can imagine that by now any anime fan that knows anything about anything anime will be elated to hear that she’s coming to one convention or another and will be one of the speakers. It seems that voice actors are probably asked to voice their various parts when they’re at these conventions but it also seems likely that they only provide snippets as they tend to lend out their voice to get paid more often than not and despite the fact that they want to please the fans, they don’t want to give away too much.
It’s impressive to see how much she’s done, especially if you happen to love anime.
