Appreciating the Voice Acting Work of Fred Tatasciore

Fred Tatasciore has done a TON of stuff during his career and it’s hard not to be impressed so let’s just say it, you can be impressed by what he’s done and the breadth of his career. Fred Tatasciore is one of the many voice actors of the current day that has been around for at least a few decades and has been lending his voice to so many projects that listing them all would take a while. If you like after reading just go on to his bio page and take a look, you’ll be blown away by how many voices this guy has come up with and how many characters he’s had to fill in terms of giving them a voice that would work for the purposes that were needed. To call him talented doesn’t quite do him enough justice, but to call him a guy that has found a way to find contentment and even a sense of inner peace with what he does would be a lot closer. He absolutely loves his job and for him the reward, aside from the paycheck of course, is that his voice actually helps a lot of people just by showing up in their favorite games, cartoons, or full feature films when they need something to believe in.

It’s kind of odd to think of a voice actor as being that much of an inspiration isn’t it? But it’s very real and people have actually thanked him for being who he is and for doing what he does. That’s the kind of guy he’s been throughout his career so far and that’s the kind of person he’s projected himself as. It takes a lot of luck to get to do something you want to do for a living, and even then it can take a lot of effort to be good enough at it that you can keep doing it for a prolonged period of time. But Fred has managed to do it and he’s had a lot of fun so far in the process.

He’s voiced a few characters that are quite famous.

Just as an example he’s voiced the Hulk, Beast from X-Men, and even the Thing from the Fantastic Four. His rough, grating voices might seem like the limit of his ability but then he can change gears and become an entirely different character that might still have that grinding quality to his voice but sounds completely different. He’s voiced so many different characters that it seems as though he might get them mixed up from time to time but like any actor he’s on point when he needs to be and doesn’t miss a beat. The guy is as professional as they come and has a very infectious sense of humor that is hard to resist. How many people can you say that you’ve met in your life love their job this much?

He alludes that voice acting is just acting.

There are a lot of people that would differentiate voice acting with live acting and would claim that they’re nothing alike. There are some differences to be sure but voice actors have to be just as good at their craft as live action actors are. There’s enough leeway to screw up from time to time but the pressure is on for both types of actors since they tend to have to follow deadlines and hit their mark when it’s expected of them. Just because one acts in a sound stage and another acts in front of a camera doesn’t make them any less or any more of an actor. Voice actors have to know what they’re doing and have to practice quite a bit to get the right voices to present to the people. Can you imagine if one of their characters sounded so horribly off that the voice didn’t fit the image on the screen?

He’s a very physical voice actor.

This seems like an odd statement doesn’t it? Whether you believe that it’s the truth or not doesn’t matter since Fred is one of the many people that likes to ‘talk with his hands’ so to speak. In other words when he’s talking his hands are constantly moving to give some sort of emphasis to what he’s saying. It’s pretty common in a lot of people since just standing there with your hands not doing anything is kind of awkward. But really getting into the part tends to be a little disruptive it seems, though it also tends to lend a little more to the voice of the actor since the more animated they get the more effective they can be. It’s getting into the moment that helps in this case and if a few tables get knocked over then so be it.

No one ever said the creative process wasn’t a little disruptive anyway.
