Monday’s episode of The Young and the Restless is one of the most dramatic episodes we have seen in a long time. It’s the night of the big fashion show, which some are excited about but others are worried about since it’s also the time and place that Adam will be exchanged for Natalie. Everyone is worried. Kevin argues that Victor is not trustworthy and that the kidnappers are getting too much credit for doing what they say they are going to do. He wants in. He finds a way in, and he is then allowed to be a part of the show. Marisa and Chelsea get together and share everything that has been going on between them in the past, and they allow Abby and Summer to take part in the show, even though they feel as if they should not allow them to put themselves in danger. In the end, the two women decide to let them in on it, and then they tell them all about Adam and the show.
Sharon is horrified. She does not want Dylan to go to the show. She is scared and she feels something bad will happen. He kisses her, he kisses the baby and then he bails. He’s not staying home because she’s worried. Essentially, she needs to get over her issues and move on from what it is that is bothering her. He cannot be bothered with her issues, after all. Dr. Anderson comes over to discuss this with Sharon, but she’s more concerned about Sage getting close to the baby and warns Sharon not to allow that to happen. So Sharon does not allow Sage to see the baby when she comes over later one after Dr. Anderson responds to a text message that Nick sends her when he was with Sage. Sage asks why and Sharon actually admits to Sage that the doctor told her not to. This serves to only fuel the fire that she is feeling toward the doctor in the first place; something she will not get over.
It seems that everyone is only out to care for number one, and no one will work together well enough for anything to go smoothly in the rescue of Adam. Today, we saw that Natalie ditched the tracking device that was put on her body, and that she is looking to get ready to bail on the entire operation as it goes down. She is the bait that Victor and the police are using to get to the kidnappers. She’s expected to be exchanged at the fashion show for Adam, and she is wearing a tracking device so that they can find her when she is taken. She is worried beyond belief — as is probably very normal for someone in a situation such as this — and she keeps voicing that throughout the entire episode. She is reassured by the police and by her friends and by Victor that as long as she is capable of sticking with the plan no matter what, she will never be in any danger. However, as we saw today, she was too scared to go through with it, and she tried to bail.
Except one thing got in her way; Phyllis. She finds her in the room trying to get her things together so that she can escape, and Phyllis stops her from being able to leave. But, you see, it’s not how it looks. Natalie did not bail from her allies in this operation. She did what she was supposed to do up until this point, but she made one fatal move. Her role was to stick with the kidnappers as they took her. They took her in exchange for Adam at the beginning of the fashion show. It all went down as it was supposed to until Natalie decided that she would attack her kidnapper in the hall, run away and try to escape. She ditched the device. Adam is safe, she’s not going back to those kidnappers. While we think that Phyllis is there for another reason, we learn that Adam was not kidnapped by a man, but by a woman. Now we know what is happening to Natalie as Phyllis finds her in the room.
