The question of the year might just be, “When is the Stranger Things Season 5 release date?” Everyone is asking. The show began years ago, the fourth season ended this year with some serious drama, and fans are not in the mood to wait around to find out what happens to their favorite characters. Too Much Story to Tell in Four Seasons
The powers behind Stranger Things seemed to know that they’d go into the fifth season. They knew from the start that the show would never last longer than five, but they temporarily wondered if they could tell it in four seasons. The answer, as we all know by this point, is no. Here’s what the show’s creators had to say about the announcement of season five being the show’s end.
“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but – as you’ll soon see for yourselves – we are not hurtling towards our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.” And that is that. This show was never meant to go on, so there is no hope that another network might pick it up and allow it to continue past season five. We know some people thought this might be the case – even we thought so for a moment. It’s simply not happening.

There’s Some Bad News About the Show
It’s not bad news, but it’s bad news if that makes sense. Here’s what we know. The entirety of this season is based on writing. The story arc is pre-planned, but the details are in writing. Unfortunately, the writing that – and here is where fans will find the bad news – did not begin until August 2022. This means the story is not yet complete. Without a script, you cannot film a show and plan a soon-ish release date. They’reOf course, they’reg on it, of cot will take time.
When Will Season 5 Begin Filming?
You now know that season 5 isn’t even written as September 2022. So, this means that the show won’t film this year. There is no feasible way they can write, film, and edit this show at the end of 2022, so there will be no filming this year. Rumor has it the show should film at some point in 2023, but even then, we don’t know when. There could be some break between writing and filming. There could be a little more time necessary for writing. There could be more time to film. A lot could happen, but there should be filming in 2023. The only thing is that we don’t know if it’ll happen at the beginning, the middle, or the end.
Get to the Point: When is the Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date?
Here’s more bad news. We don’t know. No one knows. We know that the fifth season is not being released in 2022, and it is doubtful to see a release date in 2023, either. The word on the street is that the writers and the cast are hoping for a 2024 release date. Again, though, no one knows when it 2024. It might be early, which puts it at just over a year to wait. Or, it might be mid-2024, which means it’s almost two years to wait. These people are sure that what they’re working on for season five will be so good that it’s worth the wait. However long that might be.
