Pretty Little Liars 1.19 “Person of Interest” Review

Pretty Little Liars 1.19 “Person of Interest” ReviewAs the Pretty Little Liars finale draws near, the plot twists and bombshells grow louder in Rosewood and not even the most sturdy bomb shelter can save you from the drama that is about to unfold.

The mystery of Allison’s death has brought in a new police detective, who didn’t take the girl’s story about Ian being the culprit behind the murder too lightly. He actually didn’t understand how the girls saw Ian as a suspect due to his contributions to the community and clean cut demeanor. Obviously, this town doesn’t believe in The Craigslist Killer or Ted Bundy murder cases, which makes me wonder how many serial killers have gotten away with murder over the years in the surrounding area. Plus, who is Garrett the deputy again? Don’t remember him to well…

Besides that little point of interest, who would’ve thought that Spencer would fall for Toby? The least likely of pairings work well with each other, even though A played them like a fiddle with the whole Room 214 thing (which I admit I was completely wrong about in my predictions). One thing is for sure, Spencer’s attraction with Toby will only make matters worse for her in the eyes of her parents who want to send her to shrink ASAP. Plus, it also isn’t good that she’s now a person of interest in Allison’s murder. Tsk, tsk.

As for Room 214, what does A’s note of “You’re Getting Colder.” mean? Could the whole exchange between Ian and Jenna just been a harmless interaction between friends? Or is A trying to throw the scent off again by lying?

While Spencer was busy getting “busted,” the other Little Liars were dealing with matters of the heart. Aria came clean to Ezra about ‘The Jenna Thing’ out of fear that Jenna would do it herself through a short story she was writing, which Ezra was looking over (more on that later); Emily, despite having fun with a closeted Paige, demoted the budding relationship after Paige displayed she didn’t want to be seen in public with Emily ‘like that’; and finally Hanna and Caleb were busted by Ashley, who eventually let Caleb stay after Hanna threw her mother’s past back in her face. Was Ashley homeless a long time ago or came from a crewed up family and I missed that revelation?

In the subject involving Jenna, I’ve come to the conclusion that this girl is no longer blind and is pulling a staple soap opera stuntPretty Little Liars 1.19 “Person of Interest” Review by having everyone think otherwise. The whole plot involving Jenna’s”I’m writing a short story” bit seems a bogus in a way, because I don’t understand why Ezra would be that interested in it to ‘pester’ Aria about it. The story sounds like a plot for the latest teen novel series, which is kind of below the classics like To Kill a Mockingbird, The Bad Seed and other novels Ezra teaches in his class. I feel that this was only a ruse to get Aria to confess to Ezra about something that wasn’t her business and I kind of don’t know if it was a good thing or not at this time.

I was never feeling Paige and I most definitely wasn’t feeling Emily and Paige together. It’s the whole attempted drowning thing I’m having a hard time getting over, so sue me. While we know officially that Maya is gone since Bianca Lawson is no longer in the opening credits, I seriously wouldn’t mind seeing Emily with someone who didn’t try to kill her before they hooked up. You know. Potential domestic abuse and all…

Next up is Hanna and her new beau Caleb, who I didn’t think she would lose her virginity to so soon or was determined to fight her mother’s objections over. The sad thing about this whole union is Caleb’s apparent treachery, which stings louder now that he’s not only took Hanna’s trust (and virginity), but Ashley’s trust as well. It makes the young man look a bit shady now, more than ever before, especially since we know who his boss is (if you saw the promo for next week’s episode).

The overall plot of the episode was a great steer towards what could possibly be an explosive finale, which is three episodes away. Now with Spencer being a person of interest, something I pegged would happen since the pilot, the danger is closing in and no one is safe at this point.

What did you think? Who are your suspects for A?
