It was another standard but stellar episode of Grey’s Anatomy last night with some emotional storylines and over arching plot points inching forward.
[singlepic id=10239 w=320 h=240 float=left]Baby drama was front and center last night for both the ‘three musketeers’and Meredith and Derek. While Callie, Mark, and Arizona argued about whether or not Callie should do an amnio test (a test of the amniotic fluid around the baby to determine the existence of genetic disorders), Meredith’s eyesight began to falter as a side effect of her fertility drugs.
After careful consideration, Callie decided to go ahead with the amnio test because she wants to be prepared for the future. Mark was stern in his feelings about this situation and showed just how serious he is about being a father. This future they all have, which Arizona believes is pretty much a dream for Callie as she has the woman she loves and her male best friend forever is awkward for Arizona. This future isn’t a dream for her. From now on, she has to deal with Mark in all of her life decisions and it’s a big adjustment. While her awkwardness here is understandable, something about the character of Arizona is off putting in this situation. Though, admittedly she is not one of my favorite characters so this could be just me.
Meanwhile, Meredith is instructed by Lucy, the new OB GYN to stop taking her fertility drugs as ‘one of those scary side effects on the side of the box that can happen’is actually happening to her. With all this baby drama around, Cristina is thankful that her and Owen have side tabled having a family… or so she thinks. Owen, of course, wants a family and has been hoping all along that Cristina will ‘grow out’of these feelings and take his into account. I’ve never been one to think that Cristina wants a family or would change her mind easily, so I think we should wish him good luck with that.
Besides all this baby drama, there were some emotional cases in the hospital tonight. Particularly heartrending was the case of Ricky and his girlfriend Julia who both have Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Patients with CF aren’t contagious to others, but can be severely damaging to each other trading bacteria back and forth. In the hospital for a lung transplant, Teddy tells Ricky that he must stop the relationship or he won’t get the lungs. This was devastating. These two are in love and felt they were the only ones who could understand each other. To them, it’s better to risk it all then live a life without living. In the end though the transplant was done and their disease will keep them apart.
[singlepic id=10246 w=320 h=240 float=right]Also affecting was the Chief’s realization that something is really wrong with Adele and it may be Alzheimer’s. Having fallen again with a faulty memory of the events, the Chief goes to Shepherd based on the advice of Bailey.
In the ‘˜Oh My God! Hell yeah! Steamy hot!’relationship moment of the night Avery let Lexie know that yes, he’s in the line to be her next soul mate. Maybe it’s those eyes but I’m pretty sure every woman’s heart melted as he spoke those words. We know for sure that Lexie’s did as moments later, they were hooking up in the shower.
The ‘˜Oh My God! I can’t believe this happened!’relationship moment of the night took place when the annoying pain in the butt Dr. Stark asked April out and to everyone’s surprise, she said ‘˜YES!’
Minimal progress was made on the Lucy/Alex front but as the previews for upcoming episodes suggest, this flirtation is on it’s way to becoming something more.
So what did everyone else think of last night’s episode? Did you like it, love it, or hate it? What about Lexie and Avery? Are they moving too fast? What do you think is in store for the ‘three musketeers?’and Is Meredith going to be forced to choose between kids and her career? Also did everyone catch the guest appearance of Nancy Travis from ‘Three Men and a Baby?'(I used to love that movie so I was super excited about it!)
