Star Wars: Detours – The Hilarious Show Disney Won’t Release

Disney’s Baffling Decision to Withhold Star Wars: Detours

It’s often perplexing to see Disney make certain decisions and then backtrack on others. It’s even more frustrating when we catch glimpses of what the Mouse House could have released but chose not to. Star Wars: Detours appears to be a hilarious show, yet Disney’s decision not to air it leaves fans wondering if they’ll ever get to see it. It’s difficult to muster outrage over this development, especially since Seth Green, one of the project’s creators, isn’t too upset about it. While Green might be disappointed that their hard work won’t be showcased on Disney+, he seems content with the experience of working on the project and collaborating with talented individuals. Green shared his thoughts on the matter via MovieWeb:

“I don’t really have an emotional position because I got to spend four straight years making something with George Lucas. And my partner and I, and all of the people that got to work on it, the artists and actors and directors and animators, we all got to make something Star Wars with the guy who created it. And so I know over those four years that he was having fun, and that’s really all I care about. I got a priceless experience with one of my truest heroes, and got to see him laugh and enjoy all of the things that he had created, in a time before he agreed to sell them to somebody else.”

So, if the creators aren’t too bothered by Disney’s decision not to air the show, should the rest of us be?

Fans’ Frustration with Disney’s Handling of Star Wars

Many people have been extremely frustrated with Disney regarding their handling of certain properties, particularly when it comes to the Star Wars franchise. The Mouse House has made some questionable decisions, leading to a plethora of memes, GIFs, and other expressions alluding to their mishandling of beloved properties. It often feels like fans and creators are at odds with each other, unable to agree on the direction the franchise should take.

The issue with Star Wars is that George Lucas had a specific vision, fans have their own visions, and now Disney has its own vision of how things should progress. Debates range from the validity of the Expanded Universe to which movie is the best. Ultimately, the controlling body of the franchise will make the decisions, and in this case, that’s Disney.

Disney’s Power Over Public Opinion

As long as fans continue to spend money on Star Wars products, Disney can afford to ignore public opinion and make decisions based on their own vision. It’s possible that Star Wars: Detours may eventually make its way to Disney+, but only if the Mouse House deems it a good idea. If that day comes, fans might have to accept that Disney, like any corporation, will pat itself on the back for being innovative, even if the idea has been praised and pushed by others for years.

In the end, it’s a shame that Star Wars: Detours remains unreleased, but perhaps one day, Disney will change its mind and give fans the hilarious show they’ve been waiting for.
