Southern Charm is a sleeper hit that the reality world did not see coming, but it’s easy to question that one. The show itself is focused on the people of Charleston – socialites, the elite, and the locally famous. It’s another Bravo hit that made quite a splash.
It’s safe to say that the show gives a whole new meaning to the phrase southern charm. Season 7 saw the official arrival of a worthy addition to the cast, Leva Bonaparte. As it is with these shows, when there’s a new addition, people want to know all they can about them – on and off the screen.
In that vein, here are ten interesting facts about the reality TV star.
1. She’s Been on the Show For Years
Bonaparte didn’t become a regular until season 7, but she appeared on the show a few times in the past. That’s probably an advantage on her end since she was already quite familiar with the cast and crew. Making the decision to return on a more frequent basis was no doubt a good decision for her brand.
2. She’s Persian
Though she’s of Persian heritage, Bonaparte was born in India. Further complicating her origin story is the fact that she didn’t end up growing up in India. On the upside, her family moved around a lot when she was a child.
So she’s been able to see the world and experience diverse cultures. However, for the past 18 years, she’s lived in Canada, Bolivia, and Charleston.
3. Her Husband is Her Partner
In life and business, Bonaparte and her husband, Lamar Bonaparte, are in it together. They own several establishments together and are undeniably behind some of the hottest places in Charleston. Some of the restaurants they’ve opened over the years include Bourbon N’ Bubbles, Mesu, and Republic.
They attract some premium clientele too, as the other stars of the show hang out at their restaurants regularly.
4. She’s A Mom
The Bonaparte’s are not only partners in life and business. They are also the proud parents of a toddler called Lamar Jr., or “Little.” He came into their lives on January 29, 2018, and occasionally makes some onscreen cameos.
5. She’s Not a Fan of Kathryn
If there’s one recurring theme on reality TV shows, it’s the ongoing drama and conflict between co-stars. Bonaparte is no stranger to this as she has her very own on-screen nemesis in the person of Kathryn Dennis. Dennis has been a part of the show for years and has even become a fan favorite.
While her fans may love her, Bonaparte is not sold on Dennis. Apparently, she believes that Dennis uses her white privilege to get ahead. Altogether, their tension made for some good TV.
6. She’s Outspoken
Bonaparte has got some pretty big beliefs, and she’s not afraid to share them when necessary. She’s one of those people who want others to understand her perspective. However, the reality TV star is quite open to the idea that everyone has different opinions.
7. The Show Lost Cast Members In Season 7
By Season 7 of the show, a huge chunk of the original cast decided not to return to the show. One of the stars who signed off was Cameron Eubanks, Bonaparte’s close friend. It was a significant shake-up, but it’s normal for shows that run that long to evolve over time.
8. Her Husband is Very Private
You’d think that as a reality TV star, her entire life would be on blast. But, there’s very little in terms of family photos you’ll find out there. This is mostly on account of the fact that her husband is a very private person.
He does not pop up on her social media feed that much, or anywhere else online, for that matter. While she does share plenty of photos of their son, her husband remains off-limits.
9. She Grew Up Exceptionally Wealthy
Exactly what her family does for a living isn’t clearly stated. The only tidbit out there is that they own and run a multinational company. That’s probably why she spent a huge measure of her childhood jetting around the world.
In a nutshell, she has always lived a life of privilege.
10. Success is a Family Business
Besides Leva and her husband running their own businesses, her family has a bit of a Midas touch when it comes to their chosen career paths. Her biological family runs a successful business that takes them all over the world.
Even more, her sister is a successful doctor. All in all, it’s clear to us that her family values success and empowers their daughters to do well for themselves.
