General Hospital’s Biggest Misses

General Hospital’s Biggest Misses

General Hospital fans know that people change. Characters evolve. They grow, or they fall apart due to the horrible things that happen in their lives, and we get that. We understand that. We get it. We are not mad about it, but we are not sure why some things happened to some characters. We can admit that we know not one person is perfect, but we have a hard time with a few things. For one, we are struggling with the changes in so many characters over the years that writers thought might work but that did not work. We thought we might go back and check out some of the biggest stories we did not think worked at all. We think, in fact, that the writers on the show probably look back and shake their heads and their decisions to write some of the things that they wrote back then.

Alexis’ Downward Spiral

Okay, so we know that you get to have a downward spiral when your liar of a husband ruins your marriage and then tries to kill you. You get to take a moment to have a fit. You get to take some time to not be yourself. You get to move into a situation in which you are not happy, where things don’t work for you, and you’re just not yourself. You can cry. You can have a few too many drinks. You can make decisions you would certainly not make on a regular day, but you don’t get to change your entire life as a woman who is so strong and capable. She’s a powerful attorney. She’s a strong woman. She’s even a woman who knows and knew that Julian just is not good for her, yet there she was making the worst decisions of her life. There she was making poor choices. She was doing horrible things, drinking too much, and giving up on her life. It just was not believable with her character.

Kristina’s Downward Spiral

We just find it hard to believe that a smart girl like Kristina would change so much. She’s someone who has not had a bad life, though she’s had a lot of stuff going on in her life. She’s the daughter of a powerful attorney, Alexis, and a mob boss, Sonny. She’s got a lot happening, and she’s never been a traditional type of child when she was growing up. But to go away and come back a woman who was obsessed with a horrible cult who really thought tha the things that they were doing was all right was a bit too much for even us to believe. She might be a bit impulsive and desperate for love, but she’s smarter than that, and the Kristina we know and love would have looked at them and been like, “Um, yeah, it’s a no from me,” and walked off without much fanfare. She’s someone who just doesn’t make it seem like she would go through this, and we get that. We do not believe she is this person, and we don’t get it too much in her life.

Drew

We know that he had a situation that no one else had to deal with, but he is a man who changed so much. We almost get it, too, but we don’t quite get what happened to him. When he thought he was Jason, he was the typical Jason-type. He did what he had to do. He did it well. He had fun. He enjoyed his life. He did things with his wife and kids. He was there for his friend Sonny. He did the right thing as often as he could in any situation unless he felt there wasn’t another choice. And then one day he was a mess who did not do anything right anymore. He learned he was not Jason, he didn’t change much at all for months, an then suddenly he was this horrible man who didn’t want to be there for anyone, who didn’t care about anyone, and who could only focus on himself. We didn’t like that about him after loving him so long.
