When you put your heart in something, then chances of prosperity are high. After all, it is passion that fuels our dreams as it has for Dutchess Lattimore. The tattoo artist has established herself among the few black women in a male-dominated industry, and it took the hate of her enemies to lay her foundation. Today, she is the proud owner of Pretty-n-Ink, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. She came to the spotlight after being cast in “Black Ink Crew” where she began dating Caeser Emanuel. They broke up, but Dutchess had already accrued a considerable fan base that might be curious to know more about her, so here are a few facts.
1. She was not faithful to her fiancé
Dutchess may have played the victim by accusing Ceaser of being unfaithful to her, but little did we know that she also was not innocent. She and Caeser once went to a club where they met Hurk, and since then Dutchess began sleeping with Hurk, despite being engaged to Caeser. She then met Zack Sanchez, a football player who caught her eye and started sleeping with him too. Hurk, however, did not harbor ill feelings since he also was unfaithful to Dutchess when they were together.
2. She had suicidal thoughts after leaving the reality show
Depression is a serious mental health illness that has plucked great talents like Robin Williams and Chester Bennington from us. Dutchess was heading down the same road after leaving the show as she disclosed to VH1. She was depressed after her ex-cast mates threatened and harassed her, saying they would do heinous acts if she ever returned to New York. Thinking that she would never escape the turmoil, Dutchess was ready to give up and take her own life.
3. She is a Christian
Dutchess was ready to leave the show to concentrate on herself, her business, and her relationship with God too. She confessed that she had not been to church for over four years, and while to some, that was not a big deal, to her, it was. She believes that since she had been raised to give reverence to God, the lack of connection for those four years affected her. According to Dutchess, it changed her behavior and the circle of friends she had.
4. She thinks leaving the show was the best thing for her
Dutchess is the type of person who believes that what does not kill her only makes her stronger. While at “Black Ink Crew,” Dutchess had a hard time because her colleagues never liked her. The way they treated her helped to shape her into the woman she is today, and she could not be more grateful for the opportunity. Dutchess thinks that being on television helped her to see that her life was not where it needed to be, she, therefore, unlearned what she had learned as a child to build a better future.
5. She thinks her background made her a target for the hate she got from her castmates
Differences are not meant to drive a wedge between people, but sometimes, they do, and it happened to Dutchess and castmates. According to BET, Dutchess opines that being an outcast caused a rift between her and her fellow castmates. She attributes the hate to the fact that she is the only one who was lucky enough to have been raised by two parents. Further, while the rest were from New York, Dutchess is from North Carolina. Additionally, she had ventured in a male-dominated industry, yet she is a black woman. Finally, since Dutchess was the only one with a college degree, she believes that could have played a part in the hate.
6. Her love for music began as a child
Dutchess has been in love with music her entire life, and she even released her debut song “Love Me” that was available on all streaming platforms. As a child, she loved singing in church with her brother, and her favorite hymn was “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.” Dutchess stopped pursuing music for a while because she felt it was not cool, but she is now ready to diversify her portfolio. She is trained in classical piano and used to play while reading sheet music.
7. She allegedly had sex with Donna
Donna does not mind sleeping with her castmates, whether male or female, and later dishing out on how good or bad they are in the bedroom. Dutchess is allegedly one of her conquests since when they were in a night club in Miami, the two were spotted getting close. Donna, believing that Dutchess was next in line, could not deny Dutchess what she wanted. So they went to the bathroom, and from the video clip, moans can be heard. Dutchess, however, denied that anything intimate happened in the bathroom. Instead, she said she was throwing up since she had the pregnancy scare.
8. She has always loved art
When Dutchess was young, she would draw pictures on her body, much to her parents’ disappointment. They hoped it was just a phase and that she would concentrate on her studies instead. However, Dutchess proved to be book smart as well, and when she got to university, she studied visual art. While at North Carolina A&T, the passion for tattoos grew, and she decided to turn it into a career.
9. She received two engagement rings from Caeser
Dutchess and Caeser were ready to get married; hence, Caeser proposed to her. Unfortunately, Dutchess’s family was not pleased with how Caeser went about the first proposal. Therefore, Caeser had to do it again with another engagement ring. Caeser made this revelation after fans claimed that VH1 bought the couple their engagement rings. He clarified that it would not have been a secret had the network given him the rings. Besides, VH1 has also offered them a house worth $2.5 million if they got married. Unfortunately, things did not work out.
10. Her social media
Dutchess has lots of fans on social media; her tattoo parlor’s Instagram page has over 335k followers, while her personal account has 1.7 million followers. She uses the platform to promote her business and causes close to her heart, such as sexual abuse.
