And here I am wondering if an AI could ever go psychotic. You’ve got to admit that computers are only as psycho as they’re made to be, but then again when you plug in enough of a single program or idea it’s likely that you might come up with something like this since as it’s been shown, computers aren’t really that great at thinking around corners. The utter lack of logic that is found within the English language is hard enough for us to understand at times, but when a computer, which is based on logic and parameters that aren’t known for being entirely creative, try to extrapolate something from the mess of programming that it’s been subjected to, well, this is what comes out. Ryan Scott of MovieWeb covered this idea and was obviously just as amused. Seriously, was anyone else kind of creeped out that Alfred was about to give birth to Robin on a command from Batman?
Batman is a fundamentally flawed character no matter how intelligent or tough he’s been made to be since he has one very big gap in his life, and despite the fact that he uses it and hides it at the same time, the AI seems to have had a good time with it throughout this short movie. The dig about his parents is something that might not affect the overly serious Batman in any other comic, show, or movie, but deep down it’s the one thing that the vigilante is known to harbor as one of his darkest and most painful moments. There have been times in his history that it would seem as though he’s managed to get past this, but when you think about it that’s kind of hard to imagine since watching your parents being gunned down in front of you does seem as though it would mess a kid up and instill some longstanding issues. The fact that he’s become such a dark and moody human being since that time isn’t hard to reason, but it’s also something that stands out even to the casual viewer that won’t seek to defend the dark knight over and over as a serious shatterpoint in his psyche. The moment someone learns how to use such a thing you can imagine that they would push, and hard, in order to bring Batman to his knees if they could.
Then there’s the paranoia, which many might say makes him one of the best and most dangerous individuals in the entire DC universe since he seems to be prepared for everything. It’s said that there are only a handful of characters that Batman couldn’t take down with enough prep time, and this has been proven over and over again since the guy seems to keep himself in great shape and is always planning something or researching someone in order to figure out just what to do in any situation. This is how he got booted from the Justice League after all since he kept files on his teammates and had figured out ways to neutralize them, only for that information to fall into the wrong hands where it could be used to devastating effect. Then there’s the idea that he’s been through more than one Robin since there have been a few of them and there has been tragedy along the way as well. The entire Bat-family in fact tends to have a wide array of issues among them since it would seem that donning the cape and cowl comes with the prerequisite that your life has been messed up in a very profound way.
Two Face was kind of a funny moment in this clip since honestly he’s kind of an odd villain considering that he’s psychotic but he seems to find a fairness to his character that is a lot more sensible than a lot of his fellow villains. While he’s undeniably evil, the whole coin toss gimmick is something that’s a little more evenhanded than anyone else like, say, the Joker. This is a villain that’s evil and glad to be so since any chance he gets to antagonize Batman in a number of different and inventive ways is just a regular day for him. Batman definitely has some of the worst villains that have ever existed in the DC universe, even though a lot of them are basically humans that have been given some air of mystique and danger that comes with their back story. Superman’s villains are typically those that can decimate the world in one way or another, other heroes have villains that are super-powered and are well beyond most human adversaries, but somehow, Batman’s enemies have been raising the bar for years now. The Joker, all by his lonesome, has been evolving and getting more insane somehow throughout the years, and people have loved it.
The poor AI simply had too much to keep up with, so it’s not too hard to see this as a result.
