10 Things You Didn’t Know about Chin Han

Chin Han

Ng Chin Han has been in the business for the better part of two decades now and he’s become extremely recognizable in that time since he made his way over to the US and decided to start expanding his reputation. In a way he’s known for a few different roles, some that put his characters in a poor light and some that make him seem quite heroic in a way. He does have a pretty good handle on what it takes to get people to like the men he’s portraying or to despise them entirely, and it’s shown in how his reputation has grown throughout the years. Some folks might only recognize him from a couple of movies, while others might have followed his career for some time now. In any case he’s done what he can to amass a reputation that has spanned for long enough to be impressive and has carried him to the top of his game and a very impressive height that some might not realize he’s attained.

Here are a few things about Chin Han that you might not have known.

10. He’s been picked to play the part of Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat.

Justin Kroll of Variety and many others have been busy spreading the word about the casting of the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie since so far there have been some very interesting casting choices and it’s starting to seem as though the movie might actually have a chance once it’s released to really impress the fans this time.

9. Just in case you didn’t remember he was in The Dark Knight.

This shouldn’t be too hard to remember since he showed up throughout a good part of the movie, right up until the Joker torched him along with his half of the money that the mob bosses had reluctantly given him. Lau served his purpose though, as someone that kind of proved the Joker’s point about a key weakness to the mob in Gotham.

8. He was named one of Asia’s top 25 actors of all time.

That’s not something to be taken lightly since there is a wealth of Asian actors to choose from, so picking him to be one of the 25 most popular is definitely something that says a lot about his talents and skills when it comes to acting.

7. His debut came in 1998.

So it’s been almost 21 years now that he’s been in the business, but who’s counting? Chin has been around long enough to see people come and people go and it’s likely that he’s worked with a few of those individuals in his time in the business. It might even be possible that he’ll see a few more retire in his time, you never know.

6. He was ecstatic about being able to act with Robert Redford.

It’s not often that someone gets to act with a person they revered while growing up, so this was obviously a special time in his life that he treasures since it happened to make his life complete at that moment. Of course he moved on from it and kept moving forward, but it’s still something he’s treasured since.

5. He was a recurring character in the Arrowverse.

He’s been prominent in more than movies since he’s been seen on TV a few times as well, lending his skills where they’re needed and where he can get jobs just as any other actor. But his resume is impressive none the less.

4. He has a very modest following on social media.

Either he’s not on social media that much or people just don’t know that much about him. It’s possible after all since a person that doesn’t go in for social media that much might not have a strong following since people don’t tend to pay that much attention unless someone is a bit flashy and vocal about their life. He seems to take this in stride though and enjoys his life.

3. It seems that he likes to travel.

Looking at his Instagram posts it would seem that Chin does like to move around a bit and enjoy what his money and status can get him. And why not? A lot of us would no doubt love to be able to exercise the financial freedom to jet around the world a bit.

2. He has a net worth of around $49 million.

That’s not a typo, this is his net worth. You might wonder how he amassed it, but there’s likely a few different ways since just getting this much from acting is entirely possible but it’s also likely that he’s been smart with his money throughout the years and not squandered it as some have.

1. He’s in his late 40s at this time.

He’s definitely getting older, but at this point in his life it seems that he’s done and seen so much that it can’t be said that he’s missed out on anything.

It’ll be interesting to see him as the soul-stealing sorcerer when Mortal Kombat is released.
