When Miley Cyrus married that nice Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, we thought the former wild child had finally put her “rebel without a cause” days to bed. Turns out, she really hadn’t… just months after their nuptials, Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their split. While the official line is that they’ve just grown apart, will remain friends, etc., etc., the gossip rags have been quick to point out how suspiciously quickly the spit announcement came after Cyrus was spotted getting up close and personal with a certain very blonde, very attractive, and very recently single young lady. The mystery woman in question? Kaitlynn Carter, wife of Brody Jenner and sister-in-law to the Kardashian clan.
1. She’s very recently single
Kaitlynn may be single now, but her break up with Brody Jenner was announced only one week before her frolics with Cyrus were caught on camera. While many have rushed to Kaitlynn’s defense (after all, a kiss is just a kiss, and regardless of when she broke up with Brody, single is still single), others have been quick to point the finger of judgment. As AOL notes, Twitter has been pretty much divided on the subject, with one user pragmatically noting: “Why is everyone making a big deal about her kissing Miley? Girls make out all the time when they are having fun or drunk. I don’t get it.”. Another user vehemently disagreed, replying: “Maybe because it’s disrespectful to the family.”
2. She “married” Brody in June 2018
After several years of dating, Kaitlynn and Brody took their relationship to the next level when they “married” (explanation for the air quotes coming up) at the Nihi Sumba resort off the coast of Indonesia. Along with hordes of friends and family was a press-gang of official photographers from People (who no doubt paid handsomely for the exclusive snaps). The wedding was a blissful, fairytale occasion: the bride dazzled in white, Brody smoldered in a custom-made suit by STITCHED menswear boutique; and Ed Sheeran set the tune for their first official dance as newlyweds.
3. The Kardashian’s were a no-show at the wedding
Despite coming from one of the most famous/ infamous families of modern times, Brody cut a slightly solitary figure at his wedding. Neither his father Caitlyn Jenner nor his famous sisters attended, despite being invited. “My two little sisters, we never even heard from them,” he said. “They never even RSVP’d I don’t think. We sent them an invite but we just never heard anything back.” “It was a big disappointment, especially considering that she had known about the wedding for a year,” he added about Caitlyn’s no-show.
3. She was never officially married
Remember all I just said about them getting married in June? Scrap it. While Kaitlynn and Jenner have always described each other as husband and wife, it turns out they were never any such thing. At the same time as announcing their “divorce”, Page Six revealed the couple had never officially married in the first place. In all the glitz and glamour of the nuptials, they apparently forgot the need to actually make the union legal. Brody and Kaitlynn aren’t the only ones to make the mistake- as it turns out, it’s a pretty common occurrence in the entertainment biz, with everyone from YouTube sensations Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul to Geena Davis and Reza Jarrahy conveniently forgetting that a wedding is about more than just the dress.
4. She and Brody were together for 5 years
Brady and Kaitlynn made their relationship public all the way back in 2014, after meeting at a party in 2013. The pair hit it off straight away, and things got serious fast. “He was really honest about what he wanted, no messing around, and I found that really charming and refreshing,” Carter told People. “Pretty soon after we started dating, I thought it could be for life.”
5. The photos with Miley didn’t go down well with Brody
Despite the couple already having gone their separate ways by the time the photos of Kaitlyn and Miley emerged, they’ve not exactly been well-received by Brody. As well as posting a brooding snap of himself with the caption “Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today,” Brody’s had some fun at his ex’s expense with his fellow The Hills buddy, Brandon Thomas Lee. After Lee responded to Brody’s message with the rejoinder “Let’s round this scandal out and post a pic of us making out”, Brody playfully messaged back “Watch out! Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon!”
6. She’s founded a blog
In 2014, Kaitlynn launched her first blog under the title The Western Wild. She’s since renamed it “Hey, Miss Carter”, and positioned it as a lifestyle/ fashion/ style bible. 7. She said “no” to reality TV
She may be a firm fixture on our screens these days, but when the opportunity to enter the world of reality TV first arose, Kaitlynn gave it a hard pass. “For the longest time, I’d always say no,” she told Fashion Week Daily. ” It’s never felt right to me because I don’t want to be involved in a show that’s based on character drama.” How times change…
9 Trouble had been brewing for a while
While some were surprised to hear the news of Kaitlynn and Brody’s split, those close to the couple were less so. According to certain sources, trouble had been brewing for quite some time in the Carter/ Jenner household, something that only got worse as they began filming The Hills. “It got so bad that Kaitlynn had actually moved out before they started filming, but then moved back in. Doing The Hills magnified a lot of things in their marriage. And it became clear that it wasn’t going to work. They both knew it”, a source told People.
10. She’s got a degree in English
Caitlynn isn’t just a pretty face. The talented reality TV star/ social influencer has a first-rate mind, having graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in English in 2010.
