The Five Best Brenton Thwaites Movies of His Career

It would seem that Brenton Thwaites has been around longer than a lot of people might think since honestly he’s done a bit that some folks might not know about. Even the movies that have been a big deal within the movie industry and have involved him seem to be among those that some people might not know, but then again there are some that despite how good or bad they were deemed did feature him rather prominently. He does have a kind of boyish way about him that conveys nicely to the screen and is capable of making him seem a bit younger than he really is. Granted, he hasn’t yet reached his 30s, but it still seems as though he’s a great deal younger. With that being said it’s easy to think that he could be around for a good deal of time to come since quite honestly he’s still something of a building talent that can only get better from this point.

Here are five of his best movies.

5. Oculus

This is the kind of movie that stands as a stark realization that it might be best to simply leave well enough alone. Tim and Kaylie experience a horrific loss as their mother and father are both consumed by madness brought on by a possessed mirror that is set in their father’s office, and as a result their parents end up dead and Tim is sent to a mental institution. Years later Kaylie finds the mirror and attempts to understand what happened to them all that time ago, only to have the presence awaken again and take control of her and Tim. In the end Kaylie’s life is claimed by the mirror’s evil and Tim is once again taken into custody.

4. Gods of Egypt

For entertainment purposes this movie was fun since it took Egyptian mythology and completely embellished on it. Maybe that’s why people didn’t like it, plus the calls of whitewashing weren’t too far off the mark since Gerard Butler, Nikolaj Costau-Walder, Geoffrey Rush, and of course Brenton look nothing like ancient Egyptians, which was kind of a sticking point. But honestly the relationship between the gods and mortals was something that might send shockwaves among society in many ways if a person was to ever really give it any serious thought. It was given a firm thumbs down, but it was still a fun movie.

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

It’s possible that Stranger Tides did worse than this movie but the legend of Jack Sparrow seemed best left alone after the third movie since quite honestly it’s all been downhill since then. Even Brenton showing up as the son of Will Turner wasn’t quite enough to pique the interest of a lot of dedicated fans considering that he felt forced into this role somehow. That likely wasn’t the case but still, there was just too much forced humor in this movie despite the fact that it did have its moments. There was a certain power to this movie up until every curse ever made at sea was broken. What’s to happen if a new curse is enacted, eh?

2. The Giver

Imagine a utopia where all pain is gone, but then think about this fact: so is a lot of personal freedom. This is world in which the survival of the species is the only matter of importance and stifling everything else that makes us human is seen as necessary since otherwise the negative emotions that helped to bring the species to near ruin could emerge again. The funny thing we learn about being human in this movie is that for all the negative emotions and the possibilities they bring about, the positive parts of life are more than worth enduring whatever troubles might come, as they create a complete and complex existence that is quite simply the only way humans are meant to live.

1. Maleficent

There are definite points for this movie in that it took a character we knew to be evil from a previous movie and gave her a back story that explained why she became the way she did. Yet even at her most evil in this movie Maleficent was still something of a tragic character since her motivations were to save her realm and to insure that human beings were kept well away from her people. The second movie that’s coming eventually is bound to show more of the same, but she seems to go full evil this time, showing that she’s earned the distinction of being the villain with more than just a bad attitude and imposing look.

Brenton has managed to star in some very impressive movies to date, and it would seem that he’s only gaining in popularity as he goes along. Perhaps one of these days he’ll be a leading man without question.
