Days of Our Lives Worst Recasting Mistakes

Days of Our Lives fans don’t like it when people make poor decisions, but that is just the name of the game. We’ve been around long enough to know that no one is perfect — it’s true, you guys. But we also know a lot can go wrong when you don’t make the right decisions. For example, did you know that there is a good chance you will find out your favorite character is leaving and being recast with a new face? It’s not always easy to watch this happen. You know someone as a character, and you struggle to find a new face to like as the same character. It’s not always easy, and we don’t always love it. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes, it does not work. There are times when you might find that some recasting decisions just don’t work; and it’s not always because the actor or actress is no good. Sometimes, it’s just not a right fit. Here are some of our least favorite recasts.

Guy Wilson as Will Horton

There was a time a long time ago when Will was gone and we needed a new face to play the character. However, the writers and the casting people and all the powers that be did not make the right choice. It’s not that he is a bad actor or that he is not a great person, but he just was not the right fit for this specific role. It was the equivalent of casting Jennifer Aniston as Phoebe in FRIENDS rather than casting her as Rachel. She’s amazing and talented, but that role is just not possible with her in it. You see what we are saying? This is one of those situations, and it didn’t work for fans. It didn’t work for the show, either. There was never really a real buzz where he was concerned in this situation, and it didn’t work. We aren’t too sad about it, though. They managed to make it work in other manners.

Olivia Rose Keegan as Claire Brady

Sometimes characters are aged and they have to change. They cannot keep the same child actor in a role when that character is suddenly 12 years older, and this is one of those situations. But, we will say this about this casting decision — it’s not the actress. She’s fabulous and spectacular in her own right. It’s the character herself. She was rapidly aged and showed up with a real promising future as the first girl to play this role as she was aged. The problem, however, is that she’s not quite in tune with the character as the character herself is not sure what she’s up to, what she wants, or how to focus on her own life. She’s a bit boring, and she’s not what we want to see in the character. The actress is a beautiful singer and she’s a wonderful young woman, but her job is boring because the character isn’t really a well-rounded one. She’s struggling, and it’s almost hard to watch. She’s getting ready to leave the show for good, and the writers have only just decided to make her character interesting for the first time.

Charity Rahmer as Belle Black

There were a few people in this role as Belle Black, and she is one of them. You might not remember her, though, because she was around for about five seconds. No, really. She was around for a grand total of 26 episodes before they decided she was awful, no good, and didn’t make much sense in the role. The people in charge let her go and replaced her with Martha Madison — who is the good, real, amazing Belle — and they said that she was not realizing the full potential of the role. Which, if you ask us, seems like they definitely don’t think she was cutting it in the job. She was let go, replaced, and no one remembers her or misses her at all. Really, did you even know her name when we spit it out at you? You didn’t, did you? And that’s because there is nothing that she did that made her memorable on the show — which is why she’s gone.
