Young and the Restless fans are just sad this week. Nothing about the show can mask the sadness we all feel watching everyone say goodbye to Neil knowing that this is not just writing in the show because it’s also the reality of this situation. We watched the memorial with tears in our eyes. Ana sang beautifully as a tribute, and our hearts were even more upset. Then there was the fact that we saw Malcolm speak for his niece when she could not say the words she needed to say to make sense of what happened to her father. She couldn’t do it. She was too overcome with emotion and with hurt and pain, and she could not make things work in her speech. Her uncle did take over for her and make things seem so much more amazing. It was a beautiful moment that we will always remember.
Leslie and Sophia are in town, too, and now everyone is just looking for a way to make themselves feel better. It’s hard to watch this show this week, and we will admit that. It’s not the same as a traditional death and scene. He will not be back, and we all know it. Kristoff St. John was clearly a man who was beloved by all that he touched. And he obviously touched so many people in his short life. He has friends on this show who want to show him some respect and some love in their scenes as well as in their real life, and it might not even be the first time. We have to remember that they probably all went to his actual memorial, and this is the second time they are living this situation in their lives. We have to give them all the credit for what is happening in their lives.

Today is the day that everyone has been waiting for now, and it’s more than a little emotional. This is the day everyone says their final goodbye to Neil Winters and the person he is. He’s gone, and there is nothing that anyone can do about that at this point. They are going to end this memorial in which everyone is being kind and loving with one another on the show, and it will all go back to dramatic and ugly and whatever next week. For now, though, this is going to be a day in which you will need all the tissues to listen to the words, to go through these motions, and to make any sense of any of this. This is the moment that will bring the final goodbye. It’s also a day in which many famous faces you recognize from years past are back to say their goodbye.
It’s a beautiful day in Genoa City, but it’s not the kind of beautiful that we want to experience again. It’s a day when you will need to sit back, relax, and take some time for yourself when you are done watching. It’s a final goodbye, and it’s time to say that one to Neil. His run here was a good one, and he made an impact on the people he worked with, played with, and enjoyed. He is someone who will be greatly missed, and we cannot imagine the show will ever recast him and bring him back to life in the form of a new face.
