As always, be careful if you haven’t watched the explosive series the Curse of the Oak Island. Herein, you will come across a lot of spoilers. Not that the show ever really has any major plot twists, and fans just watch it for the heck of it. I guess it’s been an elaborate plot to keep America and the rest of the world glued to the longest ever treasure hunting expedition on TV. Anyway, since we will be speaking about the show in its most recent state and since its inception, you might want to watch it first before you make your mind about it.
This reality show is based on the centuries of belief among global icons and populations that Oakland Island is home to a robust loot of treasure hidden within the depths of the Island. Common myths also suggest that the hidden treasure is protected by a powerful curse and the influence of the Free Mason sect. It is powered by two brothers who were advised by their father to keep pushing their luck at finding that much sought after treasure. Their father died soon after at a ripe old age. Even before that, they were already invested in the mystery of the cursed Oak Island where everybody desired to get treasure but never got much.
The two brothers are Rick and Marty Lagina. The two Laginas devoted their lives to solving the mystery of Oak Island and its treasure speculations. They took up the mantle from numerous past generations of treasure hunters and archeologists who sought to unravel the mystery and died or failed in the process. They follow clue after clue, seeking to find the truth about the coveted treasure no matter where it may be hidden.
The show had its fun, and it dragged for a whole six seasons. It had its ups and downs, and we can all agree its marketing was superb. Considering that this show spans through six entire seasons of two brothers and their crew in a single island, I can say the content is pretty engaging. It always had us eagerly waiting to know what the truth among the many and seemingly plausible myths. Despite the fact that it is a geological reality show that may actually seem possible, it is made interesting by the narratives behind it. We always felt some intense suspense at the end of every season despite the constant disappointment of finding dead end leads.
In the proper pretext laid out, let’s delve into the things that we will definitely be missing about the Curse of Oak Island…..assuming it even ends after this season!
1. The Truth
The series the Curse of Oak Island seeks to find the truth about the island and the rife speculation and treasure chests and haunted wealth. All that it seems to do, however, is keep steering us into massive dead ends with many small wins. When you are looking for tons of gold coins, bars, jewelry and other items made from precious metal, a mere bronze or silver coin used by some ancient government from long ago doesn’t really cut it. However, that coin does, in fact, lead us to the truth that some kind of civilization did put that gold deep down in the ground where nobody could possibly find out. That is unless they had the kind of skill, machinery, and finance that seems to power the Laginas’ quest for treasure.
2. The Small Truths
As long as we continue to anticipate that much-coveted treasure, we will never really know the truth. We will continue to miss it every day that we watch or don’t watch this series. However, there is some satisfaction and truth that comes with uncovering some facts about a mystery and proofing or disapproving theories that perturb your curiosity.
3. The History Lessons
Do you know just how many history lessons you stand to enjoy by just following this series? You’ll interact with Roman history, the truth about the crusades and the brutality of the Knights Templar. You will learn about the Spaniards and how the Vikings were repelled by Native American Indians. If you listen to Marty and Rick Lagina, you will always feel that temptation to Google some history facts just to get yourself prepped. This show was just the best in that it did offer even students some curiosity in their history academics.
4. The Geography Lessons
Do you know how you explain the difficulty in retrieving the buried, hidden and booby-trapped treasure lying beneath the Oak Island? Well, for starters, you need to understand a lot of geography. If you’ve been following this series keenly, you must have noticed how intellectually the Laginas and their counterparts discuss excavation and retrieval tactics. They simply cannot send divers into deep waters without securing the wobbly and aged structures in the 10x borehole. That particular scene educated a lot of folks on deepwater rock and sand layering. Avid fans of this series watch it sometimes just to acquire some new geography-based information with which they can use to explain the ancient or metropolitan theories and myths on the island.
5. Dan Blankenship
Let us start with a moment of silence for this fallen legend. He knew almost everything ever uncovered about the Curse of the Oak Island way before the Laginas delved into the mystery. In fact, much as the two brothers, who are crazed with unveiling the mystery, have led the world into some more discoveries, it was he who briefed them on most of what they know. Dan Blankenship took an obsession to the island after he read a story about its mystery on Reader’s Digest. The magazine containing that article was published way back in 1965. Less than five years later, he went to the Island where he spent the rest of his life unraveling the Island, the curse and the whereabouts of the coveted treasure. He died at a ripe old age of 95 years.
6. Dan’s Wisdom
In the series, Dan provided insights, wisdom and tips with the Lagina brothers. He is seemingly a father figure in their lives and a trusted advisor in their treasury hunting enterprise. After the long years that we’ve spent watching him spew wisdom, which trickled to all of us in abundance, fans just can’t help but feel like they lost a patron. We sure will miss him.
7. The Conspiracy Theories
Do you know that somehow, Shakespeare winds up in the numerous theories explaining the treasure hidden within the Island? There is something that you should all know, Shakespeare was a member of the wealthy circles back then, but he wasn’t all that rich. No matter how many theories circulate, he simply wasn’t influential or rich enough to have anything to do with this supposed treasure. In fact, Illuminati and other sects, to which he is affiliated, only commissioned his work. Shakespeare would be really surprised if only he found out how much his work is worth today.
8. The Darkness
Other conspiracy theories suggest that some of America’s political elite guard the secrets of the Oak Island treasure through their Free Mason rituals. The theories suggest that the curse is powered by some relics within the treasure including some of the Knight Templer’s lost treasures. Do you believe that Oakland Island may be the modern home to the original Holy Grail? If only this series could continue, we may just find out something or nothing at all.
9. The Excavation Equipment
You may not know this, but a good part of the avid followers of the Curse of the Oak Island just loved the excavating and metal tracking equipment. Some of that equipment always looked like some science fiction equipment to some folks. Didn’t you just love those scanning metal detectors that could find precious metals buried over forty feet deep? How about the colossal digging machines that they used to access the underground chambers? Every time that the brothers came into an obstacle blocking a very promising lead, they just brought in the big guns. I was surprised that every time the season began, they got better equipment capable of hitting previously impossible milestones.
10. Matt Chisolm
Let us face the truth; we are all pissed by the way this reality and drama series dealt with Matt’s demise. Honestly speaking, did you even know that he died? Well, do you even know him? He was a senior-aged, just like other key members of the Curse of the Oak Island cast, member of the cast. Do you know what the show’s most speculated truth is? Everyone seems to believe that the Island’s cursed treasure will surface after seven people die right? What is the current body count? Is it six? It’s seven, and that brings us to something else that we will miss.
11. The Seven-Dead Theory
Matt’s untimely and unprecedented death on the Island kind of killed the seventh victim curse. Why don’t we know where the treasure is yet and we now have seven dead guys? How weird does all this even sound?
12. Matt’s Send Off
Matt died on Oak Island. He worked for the show too: for a long time. Yet, somehow, this show never gave us that closure of saying goodbye to the longtime member of the crew. To be honest, most of the fans really want the Laguna’s to tell us the truth about Matt’s death. Is it true that he died pleading for his life on his knees? Is it true that high ranking Free Mason descendent gave him a priceless lead on the island’s mystery? Why won’t the show tell us that Matt is the seventh dead guy and that we now have one more disapproved theory?
13. Matt Chisolm’s Information
We all know that Matt tracked one of the Mason’s Grand Masters and inquired the truth from his great-granddaughter. She was graceful or devious enough to give it to him. She gave him information about the sect’s ancient shrine in the Island and told him how to read the treasure map that he would find there. He never shared the information with us, and all we can now is just miss it.
14. Susan Conway
Susan wasn’t even a prime part of the show, but she held very privileged information that could help unravel this mystery. She gave it to Matt Chisolm before he died after they took some time working on tracing the treasure map. If we aren’t able to view this series on television again, do you know what we are going to miss the most? We all just want to watch an episode featuring her.
15. All that Treasure
Let us all face it; we badly want that treasure found. Even if we may not directly benefit from the treasure like the Laginas will, a lot of money will go to the American government. That simply means a bigger budget for public spending and better living standards for us all.
16. The Island
Since this documentary reality series began, Oakland Island has always given fans a place to cool off, unwind and unravel mysteries. It is a pretty remarkable Island that keeps the world busy buried in its excavations. There won’t be any more viewing of the island without this popular show.
17. The calculated Suspense
We will definitely miss the suspense with which this show always left us. Do you remember that time the Lagunas wanted to send deep divers into the 10x borehole and almost 200 feet deep under? The producers made the show seem like it on in its climax. Then, they put off the dive for some serious prepping. That really left us yearning for the next season’s premiere.
18. The Treasure Hunting
This show entertained us especially when the Lagunas discovered a medieval cross, a massive gemstone and gold. There is just nothing as entertaining as a journey of discovering hidden treasure and unearthing ancient truths about history and religion. The treasure hunt is simply the biggest part that most of us will miss about the Curse of Oak Island.
