Everybody everywhere is a member of some kind of a family and they all, of course, have stories. Some families are really big and have some big stories, while others are small and their stories might be quite as big but nonetheless interesting. The story of the Pearson family on the hit TV show “This Is Us” have some especially interesting stories, which is what has made them the #1 show on the small screen. It’s not just that their story spans several decades and can time-travel back and forth between the years. It’s not even the fact that they have to conquer so many social issues during their lives. And, it’s not just that their characters are played by some really fine actors and actresses, namely Mandy Moore deftly playing Rebecca Pearson, Milo Ventimiglia who truly embodies Jack Pearson, Justin Hartley looking hunky as ever in the role of Kevin Pearson, Chrissy Metz always lovely and playing Kate Pearson, and Sterling K. Brown wowing us with his portrayal of Randall Pearson.
So, what’s the secret of “This Is Us”? Well, it’s the fact that it’s so real-feeling and it makes us cry! We think of the Pearsons as our own family and we feel just awful for their trials and tribulations. So, we cried our way thru the first season when the show was declared the best on TV and renewed for two (not one) new seasons. Then we waited patiently to see if there would be a season #4. Way back in 2016, rumors were that the plan was for four seasons. So, as we wait for the announcement of a season #4 (we’re sure it’s coming BTW) and a date, here are Five Predictions We’re Making about This is Us Season 4:
1. New Mystery
After two seasons that revolved around the mystery of Jack’s death, we’re predicting a whole new one for Season #4. This will be a current mystery, however, not one that stretches out over twenty years. We also predict that we’ll be getting all of the answers during season #4 regarding this intriguing mystery. And, given that the writers on the show are so good, we know it’ll be a doozy.
2. New Storylines and Characters
In This is Us Season 4, the show will open up to plenty of new storylines that involve some all-new characters. According to Justin Hartley, the Pearson world will be expanding just a little bit and in an interesting way. We predict that this will turn out to be an understatement. We also predict that these new characters will breathe new life into certain relationships.
3. They’re Definitely Not OK
After quite a bit of turmoil in the lives of the Pearsons during Season #3, it’s clear that things are not OK. We predict that Kevin’s battle with the bottle will take a scary turn and he’ll hit rock bottom. Then, he’ll have to battle his way back and face sobriety. And, the battle on the homefront between Randall and Beth will keep raging with him continuing to be the long-suffering Saint Randall and her putting up with his dark moods. As she said, being married to him is no party.
4. Faraway Places
We predict that there will be upcoming episodes in Season #4 that will take us to some faraway locations. Some of them may include only minimal involvement by members of the Pearson family but will instead revolve around some of the new characters. That’s not to say that the main characters won’t be involved but just that the show may be broadening its horizons a bit.
5. Back From the Dead
Following a major twist revealing that Jack’s brother, Nicky, was actually still alive and kicking, it just seems fitting that they should bring some other folks back from the dead. After all, the show is basically a primetime soap opera and that’s what they do on the soaps every day. Look at “As the World Turns” where James Stenbeck came back from the dead, not just once but multiple times. Or, how about recently on the #1 daytime soap, “The Young & the Restless”, when J.T. came back from the other side after many months of being presumed dead and buried? If it’s good enough for the daytime soaps, then This is Us Season 4 will be ripe for some surprise visits from friends and family who just weren’t really dead.
So, if you want to know what This is Us Season 4 has in-store for fans everywhere, you’ll just have to tune in on that still-to-be-announced season premiere date. You know you will because, after all, it’s the “This is Us” trademark of keeping people wanting more.
