Fetty Wap wasn’t really born with a huge advantage in terms of his overall health since he was born with glaucoma in both eyes. He eventually lost his left eye and was fitted with an ocular prostheses. Thankfully that didn’t stop him from continuing forward in life and doing something that he found a distinct love for, which was rapping. So far in his career he’s been nominated for several award and won a good number of them, proving to those that listen that he has a good deal of talent and has something to say just like anyone else in the business. In terms of being a star rapper he’s done a few things that have set him apart like having three songs hit the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 list, something that only Eminem was seen to do in quite a while. So while some folks might not know about him, the truth is that Fetty is a certified star in the music industry.
Here are five of his best song.
5. Wake Up
Compared to a lot of rappers that have been in the game for so many years Fetty is still fairly new to the game, but he’s hit the scene in a way that has people talking and buzzing over him in away that shows just how much of an idol he’s become. Some people might have an issue with this since he seems to be stating that school isn’t exactly the best way to get famous or make the kind of money that so any people want in their lives, but given that a lot of stars have managed to quit school and make something of themselves you can at least see where the message might make some sense. The only thing that a lot of people don’t see are the hard roads that to be walked to get there.
4. Merry Xmas
It’s not too often to hear a rap about Christmas but if it can be done then you know people are going to do their best to try. Whether it’s really within the spirit of the season as a lot of people might expect is another matter. But sometimes it’s the thought that counts, and the message does seem to be kind of positive in a way since the chorus does go into something that’s kind of touching. Still it’s something so new that the idea might not be fully accepted but the spirit of it is something that people might be able to get behind. The older generation might cock an eyebrow at this but the younger folks will surely find it kind of endearing.
3. My Way
Anyone ever notice how a lot of rap goes into the same kind of zone that you hear and see in a lot of the videos and songs? It’s all about showing how a player rolls, what they have, and what they can give to those they’re singing about or to in terms of affection, riches, and a good life. There’s a lot of materialistic feeling here that seems to be highlighted by what can be given by those that are earning the big dollars and have the expensive lifestyles. The only problem with this seems to be that a lot of them in real life seem to move on from one person to the next in pursuit of the next rush that such a lifestyle demands.
2. 679
The image that seems to be given in a lot of these videos is that living a life that’s all about the money and what it can be used to bring a person is what really matters in life. Of course the feeling behind it seems to be touched upon now and again, but usually in a way that makes the people in the video seem rather shallow and materialistic since the idea that a lot of them would be there if the booze wasn’t flowing and the money wasn’t being doled out is kind of hard to fathom. Yeah it seems a bit cynical but at the same time it seems very real since too many people in this world will always be there when the money is available and on hand, and will split when it’s not.
1. Trap Queen
This is one of the songs that’s made Fetty as popular as he is and it really follows in the same vein as a few of his others when showing how important the money he makes is to the lifestyle he lives. While this one goes back to the hood and shows things in a different light that doesn’t shine quite as much, it’s still the idea that money is the unifying factor that keeps things working and flowing forward in a sustained manner.
Money makes the world go ’round after all.
