General Hospital fans are so excited about so many things going on right now, but one of those things is not the long weekend without anything to watch. We like the drama, the fun, and the stories, and going without for four days is a long time. The good news is you have a ton of leftovers and shopping to do to keep your mind off the fact that you’re not getting your situation to change right now. Everyone in Port Charles is back effective Monday, which is great news. But for now, you just have to sit back and allow us to sit here and tell you that there are so many other things going on — including this behind-the-scenes drama.
They Have the Best Wardrobe
There is a giant room that’s called the closet on the set, and everyone has their own section of the closet for their characters. It’s all good, though, but they cannot take anything home. There is some serious drama if someone bothers to remove an item from the closet — and they will be caught. You will not believe how many people will go out of their way to do this and stop this from happening, but we get it. This is some nice stuff, and losing it would be a terrible pity.
The Files
When you have a hospital drama, you see doctors who have files on their patients. In a real hospital, this file is the single most important thing that a doctor has at his or her disposal. This means that they can see the patient’s history and try not to kill them by making some mistakes. There’s nothing worse than dying because the doctor didn’t read the correct file. In this show, however, you might assume that there are some cue cards, prompts, or cheat sheets in there for actors to help them get things done. But that doesn’t mean you are correct. What you find in here is nothing but paper with scribbles on them. Boring, right?
Tattoo or No?
When a character has a tattoo on the show, it might not be a real one in their lives. They might go through makeup every single day to add a tattoo to the character. Or, they might go through makeup each day to ensure that their real life tats are covered up and things are not showing in the show. The show doesn’t prevent actors from doing anything to their bodies, but they do sometimes cover it up if it doesn’t work on the show or the character’s story line. Such is life.
They Have Fun Neighbors
The Port Charles set is one of the best in the world, and that’s because they have the best neighbors. Remember all those times you’ve seen Dr. Miranda Bailey show up from her role on Grey’s Anatomy show in Port Charles? It’s great news for them because she’s their neighbor. She’s right next door with the rest of the Grey’s Anatomy cast, and she’s good for it. We often wonder whether they share scalpels. If not, maybe they practice their medical jargon with one another. Like who knows the most complicated medical situation? We kind of think that might be the most awesome situation ever, but we are a little partial.
There Are Pieces of Pine Valley Present
We all know that One Life to Live was another very prominent soap for a long time, but it was cancelled back in 2013. The show took on some of the actors and actresses to help make things work out for them, and that was….interesting. They’re still there, but they had to be re-worked into new characters when things didn’t go the way the show planned. But the good news here is that there are still pieces of the Pine Valley set on the Port Charles set. The old Pine Cone Motel, for instance, is still there and being used as the creepy place near the hospital. Anna Lives in the Chandler Mansion. The Pine Valley Yacht Club is now the skating club. Erica Cane’s penthouse is now Ava Jerome’s home. It’s all something that works out for them, and we love it.
