With celebrities such as Bruce Boxleitner it’s kind of difficult to know just which exploits to detail and which ones are okay to omit. One thing is clear, he’s had a long and successful career and listing all of his accomplishments and roles would take a while, so it’s with some prudence that I’ll only be laying a few down. He’s been one of the many dependable actors that’s stuck around Hollywood and he has been a leading man in his day so it’s fair to say that he’s done his part and been one of the more solid individuals in the industry when it comes down to who can be counted on and who’s just there to flit in and out as they please. Bruce has been around for so long that he’s seen many people come and go likely and has witnessed the rise of many individuals that have attempted to take the industry by storm, as well as those that had the patience and wherewithal to take the slow and steady path to greatness.
Here are a few things you might not have known about him.
10. He’s performed on Broadway.
This seems like something that is one of the many pathways that actors take when ascending along their different paths and it does tend to help a lot of them gain that needed confidence while honing their craft and making certain that they become the best they can be.
9. He was in Tron: Legacy.
How long do you think he must have waited for Tron to come back? It debuted for the first time in the 80s after all and up until 2010 it was something that people talked about in nostalgic tones, but never really expected to make a comeback. Hardcore fans were excited to see this movie made, but a lot of folks seemed to have an issue with it for some reason.
8. His ex-wife introduced him to his second wife.
Now how often does this happen? Sure, couples can split amicably and go their own way and even still be friends. But to have your ex-wife introduce you to the woman that you’ll eventually fall for and marry, that’s seems to be unheard of in a lot of circles, even if it did turn out to be a good thing for a while.
7. He appeared in both Tron movies.
It’s funny to note that the Tron video game outdid the movie when it came to sales, but one would have to wonder if Bruce had ever thought that this movie would make a sequel at any point in the future. After all it was fairly blasted to pieces when it first came out.
6. He’s a skilled horseman.
For those that have never ridden a horse or think that it’s easy you might want to think twice about that since getting up on one of them is a test of wills to see who’s going to be in charge. Thankfully Bruce is well-trained and knows what he’s doing.
5. He was a spokesman and model for Estee Lauder for Men.
You don’t often think about the Estee Lauder for Men products but he was actually their spokesperson for a while and it seemed to serve him pretty well since Estee Lauder has been quite popular for some time.
4. He’s written a few books.
Bruce has written a couple of suspense and science fiction novels that have taken on a Western theme. It seems kind of unfair sometimes that a person can excel in acting and in writing at the same time but honestly it’s easier to be impressed than jealous.
3. His career started back in the 1970s.
He’s been around for a while so it’s likely that he’s seen quite a bit and has watched stars rise and fall as his own career has been moving along steadily. It would be interesting to hear his take on this since it would likely be kind of insightful.
2. He stars in Supergirl.
It’s kind of difficult to move around scheduling conflicts but this is why Brent Spiner has had to bow out of his role in the show. Bruce Boxleitner was brought in however and it can be said that he’s a worthy replacement.
1. He’s been nominated for several awards and won a few.
He hasn’t been able to snag any major awards as far as Academy’s or anything else, but Bruce has managed to create some great buzz that has kept his career moving forward and allowed him to stay as close to the top as he can throughout the years.
In this day and age anyone that’s not on their way up or firmly ensconced in show business is typically on their way out eventually, but Bruce is definitely a guy that seems poised to stick around.
