As one of the characters in Game of Thrones Bronn is perhaps among the nastiest of the bunch since not only is he a mercenary, but he just doesn’t care about much of anything. If the price is right then you might be able to retain his services. Just don’t expect his loyalty to really go any further than the coin you’re going to pay him since as a sword for hire Bronn is always up to fighting for the highest bidder, and will cut and run if he feels that he’s being cheated or not paid enough to deal with certain problems. His whole time with Tyrion he was very upfront about who he was and what he did, as well as what he expected. Bronn is a very hard man that likes the finer things in life but doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty when he really has to. That makes him one of the more dangerous people in Westeros since there’s no telling just what he’ll feel like doing if he’s being paid enough to do it.
Here are a few things you might not have known about Bronn.
10. He’s never been in the same shot as Cersei Lannister.
This has to do with the fact that Jerome Flynn and Lena Headey dated once and simply do not get along. There are a few scenes where it makes no sense for Bronn to be away from Jamie’s side since the two have been around each other for several episodes. That makes it easy to believe that they did not end on a good note.
9. Jerome Flynn really got to shoot the giant scorpion.
Jerome actually had a lot of fun with this shot since it was so well-planned and he got to fire the archaic weapon that was in sense a giant crossbow that was strong enough to injure a dragon. The only problem was that he didn’t finish the job.
8. Bronn has been beyond the Wall.
As a mercenary Bronn is bound to go where the money and that tends to take him to a great many locations that might be deemed as too dangerous by some but are still not daunting enough for a guy that wants to get paid.
7. He’s married in the books.
There’s a great deal of difference between Bronn in the books and Bronn in the show as in the books he was content to marry and even take care of a child that was not his own. In the show however he’s not content with much of anything but currency.
6. His role in the show is much bigger than it is in the books.
In the books Bronn played his role and was subsequently allowed to just fade off into the distance. In the show however he’s been very prominent and upon his inclusion started becoming more of an important character than he was in the literature.
5. His role in the Blackwater fight changed from the book to the show.
In the books Bronn’s role in the fight was to raise the chains in the bay so that Stannis’ forces couldn’t retreat. But in the show he was tasked with lighting the fires that would decimate the ships.
4. Cersei tries to kill him in the books.
You might wonder why Cersei would bother but then you’d be missing the whole point of who Cersei is and why she does anything. She attempted to have Bronn killed but he fought and won and as a result kept on being Bronn.
3. People have actually been upset at Jerome for his actions in the show as Bronn.
With that one shot that wounded the dragon during one of the most epic fights Jerome earned the enmity of a lot of fans since too many people it seems can’t separate fact from fiction long enough to realize that he’s playing a part and that it was nothing personal.
2. In the books Jamie and Bronn never work together.
This was an odd pairing to start with since Bronn and Jamie are actually very different but not so opposite that they compliment one another. They’re both excellent fighters and they’re both very arrogant, but Bronn is more of a streetwise thug that knows how to fight while Jamie is of course a highborn that was well aware of his superiority until he lost his right hand.
1. He knows how to play political games.
Just because he acts and talks simply in the books and in the show doesn’t mean that he’s without means of turning people against one another and causing unrest in a much more subtle manner. Bronn knows how to play games and even more than that, he knows how to win.
He’s one of the meanest, most underhanded characters in the show, but at least he’s honest about who he is.
