Wes Anderson was born in Houston Texas, on May 1, 1969, although he now lives in Paris. He is a director, actor, producer, and screenwriter. He is best-known for creating films that have a narrative and visual style. This award-winning director has worked in the film industry since 1992 and has established himself as one of the most successful and creative directors of the current day. Many of his films have received great acclaim and achieved significant commercial success. Wes Anderson directed the 2007 comedy-drama film ‘The Darjeeling Limited’ and co-wrote it with Jason Schwarzman and Roman Coppola. ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ is a 2012 coming-of-age film that Anderson directed and co-wrote with Roman Coppola. It is an eccentric love story that starred Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward. This 2001 comedy-drama was directed by Wes Anderson who also co-wrote the film with Owen Wilson. The movie starred Danny Glover, Anjelica Huston Gene Hackman, Bill Murray and Gwyneth Paltrow. The story is about three gifted siblings who enjoyed success in youth but failure in adulthood. It is told in a literary narrative. Gene Hackman won a Golden Globe for his performance in this film and the movie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. The film was also a commercial success as it grossed $71.4 million from a budget of $21 million.
1. The Grand Budapest Hotel
This is the film for which Wes Anderson is most famous. Despite being a relatively low budget movie made with $25 million, this 2014 comedy film grossed $178.4 million at the worldwide box office. Anderson was the writer, director, and co-producer of the film. It starred Ralph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham, Matthieu Amalric, Adrien Brody, and Willem Dafoe. The movie won multiple awards including Academy Awards for Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Original Score, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. It also won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture- Musical or Comedy.
